I've been really considering putting a grille guard on my kk. I understand that they aren't completely practical but my reasons for wanting one is for looks and the ability to add some off-road lights. It seems that there's two options for me which would be the Westin Bull Bar and the Aries Grill Guard.

The Westin Bull Bar seems like it would be easier to install and is cheaper. The best deal I could find was for $230 on Amazon with free shipping.

The Aries is a lot heavier so would probably be harder to install but I really like the look of it. The best deal I could find was for $314 on autopartswarehouse.com with free shipping as well.

Is the bigger one worth the cost?

Also I have a few questions about grille guards. I have heard that they can damage the part of the frame to which their bolted if their is a car accident. Are their any warranties/insurance issues that could be brought up from installing this? Thanks.

if the aries is the same as the steelcraft one which i have, which i believe it is then its totally worth it.

You can also install it solo very easily if your not a weakling, i was able to hold it up with one hand while sliding bolts in the support it with the other.

Also it is the most impractical thing you could ever do lol. It is 70% cosmetic. Someone drove into my car and ran off in a lot, they hit the bar it sliced through my bumper/radiator and tore the frame piece it mounts to. $5000 thanks geico.

BUT i do love the looks so of course, i got another one lol. The bar itself took little damage, everything it was attached to and behind it go slammed. Hence, the bar is actually stronger than the jeep itself...

Its good if someone accidentally taps ur car at a slow roll though and for off roading branches and whatnot. I mainly got it to begin with for light mounts.

Yeah I looked at the steelcraft one and the instructions were exactly the same...("rebranding?") Anyways I think that's the one I'll get :D . Sorry about what happened to your jeep. Did your insurance ever give you any issues over the grille guard? Thanks.

I think mine is made by black horse, I think they are all basically the same. My parents got it for me as a Christmas present, so I can't help much on price. They said it was expensive.

Very easy instal. Christmas day my Dad and I had it installed within 20 or so minutes.
