FYI, Just had to replace my bulb as well. Also did a preventive swap while I was at it on the 2nd KK.

If anyone is interested I have a few left over from a bulk purchase. They are the original OEM JKL FWG 203 bulb.

6 leftover. I could do $5 shipped each. PM if interested.

Is the bulb socket molded into the bezel? I've not had mine go out, but with as hard is it is to find this bulb, I wonder if simply patching in a single LED might be a better solution? Something like these:

I know that's like 10 of them, but hey, you will have spares!

EZ swap for OE bulb once bezel is pulled. Bulb will last about 5+ years. Dealer will only sell whole panel. I believe the socket is molded to the panel.

I joined the forum some time ago to contact BKNY about the spare lamps he had. I got them from him - real nice guy - back in Feb and put off the install until the weather got warmer. Unfortunately they are small and I misplaced them in the meantime.

I was replacing the dash lamps with LEDs on my Wrangler (my other vehicle) and thought to replace the Liberty shifter with an LED also. I used a 74-CWHP3 from superbrightleds.com and it worked perfectly. The CW in the name stands for Cool White but you can choose Warm White (or colors) too.

Here is what I did on my 2003 Jeep Liberty:

1) The trim piece across the front of the shifter just pulled up from each side and then could be placed on the passenger seat.
2) Then I had to lift up the large oval-ish black plastic window by gently working it up at the corner points where the white plastic half moons are visible.
3) I then lifted that black oval up and turned it 90 degrees since it cannot be removed completely
4) Then I gently moved the thin white/vinyl plastic strip from the left side of the shifter
5) That reveals a clear plastic rectangle tray type thing. That tray lifts out
6) With a needle nose pliers with electrical tape over the points I removed the burned out lamp very gently so as not to break it.
7) I then inserted the #74 replacement LED lamp and tested.

Just for reference ... other forums refer to the OEM lamp part number as MS820083 or S14V

Thanks for the thread and the details - your help is much appreciated.

It might be late but better late than never. The EWG 203 was replaced by E74 lamp by manufacturer. So if you want to buy the EWG 203 just search for E74 Lamp in google and you can get a set of 10 for less than $5
