I am currently saving for a lift, but won't be getting it until I actually have the cash in hand. I want to do this right, and my research on the forum says that Old Man Emu and Jeepin By Al are really the only ways to lift a KK and get improved ride quality and resistance to sagging in the long run. Here are the two options I'm looking at (prices from Jeepin By Al's website):

Option 1:
OME 1.5 inch lift kit (realizing I'll get more like 2-2.5 inches) - $750
JBA upper control arms - $396
Both together: $1146 before tax

Option 2:
JBA "silver" 2.5 inch lift kit with Adjust-a-Struts, Bilstein Shocks, and upper control arms - $2174 before tax

I figure I'll also need longer bump stops, and if I wanted to add a clevis lift that would not add much to the already hefty price tag. The big pro to the OME option is that it's $1K less expensive. A con is that I would have to use a spring compressor. I like the flexibility of Al's adjust a struts, as I may add a bumper someday. I already have skids and rock sliders, which adds weight. But a big factor in my mind is how it rides. Does the extra grand I could spend on the JBA lift improve the ride much over what I'd get with OME? I know very few of you have probably owned both an OME and a JBA lift, but if you've ridden in lifted jeeps with these different lifts and can compare, what did you think? And how well do they age?

Thanks,
--LFH

You don't have to use spring compressors, just take them to a shop for assembly. I'll admit I do use them myself, but they are a pain and risky.
