| Post subject: | Jeep Liberty KK 2008 A/C Blend Door Actuator Motor Replaced |
I did this task recently, so I thought I would share. Problem: Air out of vents always HOT even when air conditioner is on. Discount/mini repair shop said compressor was working just fine. Might also exhibit itself as always COLD even when heat is on. Note: My car has thermostat knob... Not sure if that might matter or not. Solution: Replace blend door actuator motor Note: I saw lots of postings on the "blend door" itself being broken. This might also be your problem, but it wasn't mine. Was easy and relatively cheap to try to replace the blend door motor, and in my case it worked. Part: 68004016AA - actuator motor http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/products/JEEP/ACTUATOR-AC-and-Heater/4537437/68004016AA.html http://www.wermopar.com/parts-catalog/jeep/liberty/2010/limited/3-7l-v6-gas/hvac/evaporator-and-heater-components http://www.ebay.com/itm/Liberty-A-C-Heater-Door-Acuator-68004016AA-OEM-Mopar-Servo-Motor-08-12-New-/251097065509 http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313&_nkw=68004016AA&_sacat=0&_from=R40 Best pictures I could find were on eBay, which I know don't last forever. Procedure (est 30 min): 1. Remove battery cable 2. Remove accessory door to left of steering column (no tools required) 3. Remove shrowd under steering column (no tools required) 4. Find blend door motor. Right side of exposed area. Low end of exposed area. 5. Remove 2-3 screws... Believe they are Star 'T' heads. (Note: Could reattach battery and test motor by adjusting thermostat, disconnect battery; Note: my motor WOULD move, making me think it was fine, but it must have been slipping under the load of the door). 6. Remove wire harness. 7. Attach wire harness to new motor. (note: could reattach battery and test motory by adjusting thermostat, disconnect battery) 8. Insert new motor (identify flat edge on gear on car, and line up with flat edge on motor. Once on the gear then rotate motor base to align screw holes of motor and car). 9. Insert screws 10. Replace Shrowd 11. Replace accessory door. 12. Attach battery cable. 13. Reprogram radio, etc. |
