Post subject:  Qucik disconects and remote reservior shocks?
So I was recently accepted into the Army's Physician Assistant program, so the funds have become available for me to purchase my long awaited JBA 4" lift. My questions to the lift guru's out there. Should I get the quick disconnects too or will it allow too much articulation for my CVs.
Also would be the benefit of getting the bilstein 7100 with remote reservoir vs the bilstein 5100's vs the Fox rear shocks?
I plan on ordering soon so any input would be appreciated.
My Daystar served its puposed beautifully, and got me back from Colorado in one piece, but now I need more :rockon: .

Skip the disco's,more trouble then there worth and place the CV's beyond there max limits when offroad.


I'd go with the 7100 series shocks,they are rebuildable and can be re-valved also if you want a softer/firmer ride.You can also adjust the nitrogen pressure to stiffen/soften there response(special kit required,most offroad shops can do this service for cheap also).

Does the remote reservoir mean I can adjust it on the fly, while in the vehicle or just that it is adjustable? I don't know too much about suspension systems.

If you're asking if you. An do this while driving I'd say no but I thing rancho makes something like that. Not sure if they make it for a KK though.

I can also get the 7100's with out the remote reservoir. I don't think the Fox shocks are an option anymore so, they are out of the picture.

Remote resevoir shocks give you more fluid. This helps to prevent "shock fade" when they get a good workout (ie wheeling). This occurs when the fluid inside gets too hot, forms tiny bubbles and loses its viscosity. But adding more fluid in the remote resevoir it helps keep it cooler.

No adjusting of the fly.You can adjust the nitrogen level if the shrader valve on the end of the remote is easily gotten to.Of course any re-valving/rebuilding is done with them off the vehicle.


I do not know the valving JBA sells,the 7100 series has 6 choices,but I'll tell you 255/70 was a bit soft for my KJ and so is 275/78 which is the 5th highest valving but either should work very nicely on a KJ/KK other then mine as mine is weighing 6000lbs+ with about 3100lbs of that on the rear axle.There also trying to dampen OME HD 3" lift coils for a FJ80/FJ100.

The remote resevoir only holds nitrogen so more fluid can be in the shock itself,you got it pretty much correct.

Ok I think I understand, now. I was thinking it had something to do with refilling or adjusting them. Shows how much I know about shocks and suspensions :dizzy: . I'll stick with medicine then, its easier for me LOL.
BTW Atthehelm After the lift I plan on getting the bumper, but that may be a year or so. Just letting you know I'm still interested in your bumper. For future reference, If I buy your bumper would you be able to add a stinger bar?

It would most likely have to be a bolt on.
