Post subject:  Stock height measurements

I'm trying to figure out how much lift I'm really riding at and if I'm too high in front or am able to go higher. I didn't measure the center wheel to fender height when my vehicle was stock, though I should have :banghead:. For those of yall still sitting at stock height can you please give me y'alls measurements?
I feel kind of awkward going up to strangers KK's in the parking lot and measuring them with a tape measure (though I have), and all the local dealerships are sold out. I have two different measurements but they were each off by about an inch. So I'm trying to get more info so I can get an average from a larger sample.

Thanks for helping me out earlier by sending me pics of your lift components. Time for me to return the favor.

First a little background. I have an '08, which is most likely sagged already, plus I've added all 5 skids, RL super sliders, and a roof basket. Even so, I was shocked at how sagged it is...

Measurements from the middle of the center cap to the lowest point on the fender flare (just inside the wheel well):
Front/Driver: 17 inches
Front/Passenger: 17 1/2 inches
Rear/Driver: 18 inches
Rear/Passenger: 17 3/4 inches

Some of the weirdness may be that I'm parked on the street on a corner where it's not exactly level ground. But DANG. 17 inches! Seriously!!?? No wonder I have those dents in my muffler...

Thanks. I agree they seemed to have sagged a little and you have extra weight. One of the stock KK's I did manage to measure at a dealership measured 18" in front and 19.5" rear I think I only measured the driver side though. I was in a hurry and ran in there quickly so my numbers may be off a little. Another KK I saw in a parking lot at a movie theater measured (no idea how old or what it had in it) 17.5" in front, and 18.5" rear. That's a big difference, and is why I'm trying to get a bigger sample.

Tomorrow I'll try to measure mine. I'll look for the most level area I can find. I'm also curious to see how much I sagged when compared to a brand new KK.

It seems like the factory KK's have a bit of a rake to them, where the front is about an inch closer to the ground than the rear. I've read that some people like it and some don't, and those that don't like the stance do the clevis lift (or in our case, crank up the adjust-a-strut) to even out the front and rear.

Most KK's will measure in at 17.25 to 18.0 up front and 18.75 to 20.0 in the rear depending on mileage

My stock measurements at 8,500 miles, a couple hundred of those were on the beach.
Front/driver: 17 7/8"
Front/Passenger: 18 1/8"
Rear/driver: 19"
Rear/Passenger: 19"

After JBA Silver and less than 100 hundred miles:
Front/driver: 21 1/2"
Front/Passenger: 21 1/2"
Rear/driver: 22"
Rear/Passenger: 22"

_benjammin, your lifted measurements are the same as mine now with JBA's 4 inch lift. It really makes a big difference, especially since I began at about 1 inch lower than stock with my sagged oem springs.

I suspect it will settle, especially after the beach.

Hi folks. I have a CRD in Europe and with a simple OME i have following measures at driver side:

Front: 19 1/4
Rear: 20 1/2

Would like to add a 3/4 top spacer in front and 1 inch spacer for rear.
Will it be like a 3,5 inch lift?

Thanks?

NO no no
you can not mix OME lift with spacers , very bad idea from the get go
PLUS if you did it right ( not with spacers) you also need jeepinbyal upper control arms and then would still have upper control arm/ spring contact
If you think you want to lift that much, go with JBA adjustable coilovers
then of course lower gears etc

So you are saying since I have a 1 inch differential between the front and rear of my jeep after an OME lift I cannot use 1/2 clevis spacers up front with JBA lifted control arms?

First off no one makes a 1/2 inch spacer, next how would you mount it, 1/2 inch spacer can not be bolted on the top or bottom in front and third just not a good idea at all, so the answer is NO you can not
If you have that much difference you used the wrong springs or something in the first place
If you have a CRD did you use 790 OME front springs?
