I have a quick question for AtTheHelm: What diameter D-rings did you design it for? I measured the holes in the brackets to about 7/8" (working in a dark hallway with an old ruler, lol). Will a 7/8" diameter D-ring pin be too tight-- should I get 7/8" or 3/4" pin D-rings? Thanks!

I had 3/4" d rings and they fit perfectly

Its a 29/32" hole to accept a nominal 3/4" shackle. The pin is acually 7/8" on a 3/4" shackle.

AT THE HELM> I am brand new to Lost Jeeps but have been trying to figure out where to get my hands on one of these. Any way you would be willing to do another one?

I have one for sale that I bought from At The Helm and never installed because I had to sell the Jeep. I'll pm you.

His website is athfab.com. He has them there too.

I just installed them a few weeks ago.

I didn't take the whole plastic grill out - just the ends where the tabs come through, leaving most of in tact.

I discontinued the recovery system a couple years ago but still have the shackle mounts on the website and keep them in stock.

I think this design would block air flow, which probably isn't critical to most people -- but I also tow a trailer loaded with firewood. In some places I have to clime an 8 or 10% grade and the KK won't do more they 30 mph.

I don't need a recovery device. But I would love to have a receiver point behind the license plate. I have an 8000 lb winch mounted on a receiver plate that I use on the rear a couple of times a year either to pull a cut tree I can't move with the jeep alone or to pull one up a bank to make it easier to cut up. Sometimes, if I'm cutting in the national forest, I need to clear a cut tree out of the road rather quickly.

A front receiver point that doesn't cut off air flow would be nice for this. I could also see it as useful to move a trailer in close quarters sometimes.

Can you make what I need or know if one is made by someone?

I thought I’d weigh in since I have one of ATH’s old style recovery systems on my Jeep. There is definitely enough airflow around and under the bumper with the bar attached. It does sit in front of the power steering cooler but not the radiator or transmission cooler. I’ve towed 3000 lb loads through the mountains (Appalachians) and have had no overheating issues. (But you’re right that it can be slow, lol!) My Jeep has the HD cooling fan on it along with the standard electric fan.

Occasionally these show up for sale in the for sale section. You could post a “wanted” thread and see if anyone is willing to sell theirs.

I'm new to Lost Jeeps and was admiring the recovery bar, I understand that you discontinued it but do you still have the Shackle mounts, I didn't see them on your site...

Gotta keep an eye to the website. He will make a short production run every once in a while. Once it's confirmed, it'll be all over the KK Facebook groups until sold out.

I'm also eagerly waiting for the heavy snow to test them out. Honestly, every time it snows, I want to drive to someone's house, but my wife doesn't agree. She said it was too dangerous to move. So boring!
