Well, ran the gas down to a 1/4 tank. Went to a differant station to fill it up... was able to fill the Liberty at full speed. Nozzle cut off the gas when the tank was full, with no burp (or spill). Guess I'll call it fixed :)

Dropped the Jeep off this morning to have the gas tank replaced (only took 5 weeks to get it in...) and also the 5 year powertrain warranty checkup done. We'll see how things go on that. Just out of curiosity, what all do they do for the powertrain inspection?

Pull codes, check all fluid levels, visual inspection....

So I filled up my tank this morning, and started my normal drive to work down the interstate. I kept noticing liquid on my back window as I was driving, which was odd because there wasn't any rain, and only a little bit of snow fell last night. Once I got to work I noticed that my Jeep was gushing gas from the bottom (the leak looked as though it was about in the middle of the vehicle). Anyhow, I hauled booty to the $tealer$hip to have them take a look at it. Well they're backlogged with a crap ton of vehicles being serviced, so I'm at the mercy of their shuttle service for today...

I think it's almost time to cut my losses with my Jeep and just trade it in for a 4 wrangler or go with a foreign deal...

What year is your KK? Still under warranty? Good luck!

2008. They didn't attach the fuel line coming out properly, or so they said. Actually the serviceman's words were along the lines "I don't even know how to begin to explain why it happened like it did, but they fixed it."\

*facepalm*

:D Have not had a spill since the replacement. Going to call it fixed... should have fixed it five years ago.

I think mine is due soon. Of the last 6 fillups it burped gas out and down the rear fender three different times, the last two times in a row. :grim: For a while there I was able to avoid problems if I put the gas pump handle on the first 'click' so it pumped gas slowly, not at full speed. Now it doesn't matter and it'll make a mess regardless.

I have a 2009 and I get burping filling up, too. I wonder if I have a one of these setups that causes it?

I'm not even going to bother taking mine in for this unless they WANT to do it while it's there for the transmission. I just back out the nozzle a little bit. Works for me.

I feel like when mine does it, it's not as others describe.
Mine happens when removing the nozzle no matter how careful I am.
Dribbles out on to the paint 8/10 times. Always wash it off real quick.
One day it'll annoy me enough to have it fixed.

DO IT! It is so nice not even to have to worry about it at the gas pump! :jester: You will wonder why you waited so long.
It's not a hard procedure for them to do. Had mine back in a couple of hours. And it was completely free. If it makes you feel any better, they didn't even have to change out the fuel neck, which has my extended breather hose zip-tied to it. (I could tell because of all the undisturbed road salt, lol!)

My dealer even installed my gas tank skid for free during the swap, all I had to do was ask nicely!

New I was going to have a fun (sarcastic) time with this when I brought it to the dealer.
I went there and luckily dealt with the really friendly and helpful service advisor I have dealt with many times. First it was my mistake of giving her the wrong number for the TSB, I was one number off. :banghead:
She then told me if I could find it on the internet to fax it to her. Okay fine, did that.
She called me back and said some schenanigans that it doesn't apply to my vehicle for some reason she pretty much couldn't put in to words. She told me to give Chrysler a call and see what they say about it.
Got on the phone with Ashley and she was really helpful, I explained the issue to her, she called Jeep, and for some reason, it just wasn't coming up right on their computer and now MAGICALLY it appears!
I was going to have an appointment on Friday, but then I remembered I have a full tank of gas, so once I'm empty she said bring it over and they "have the part in stock."
She said it's just the check valve that gets replaced. Is that right? I thought a whole new tank was needed, too? :juggle:
