She said it's just the check valve that gets replaced. Is that right? I thought a whole new tank was needed, too? :juggle:

Over the years Chrysler tried several revisions to the fuel tank, because they were aware of this problem for a long time.
Depending on the year/date of your rig, would determine what gets done to it.
In my 07 KA the faulty rollover valve is part of the tank. So I would get a new tank if I had this problem. In the 08 KAs, some get a new tank and some just get parts, depending on the production date. As of now, I know of only 1 KA that did not get a complete new tank.

My concern is that the roll over valve in my rig is stuck in the OPEN position, and would not close if I was to rollover... But the only way to test that is to roll the rig over...
Chrysler should have just recalled all the rigs with a potentially faulty valve. IMO

Thanks for the information. I'll post here when I get it done.

So glad I found this thread, it just recently started happening with my 2010 KK and its already annoying me.

My questions:

I bought this from a Honda dealership and I am the 2nd owner, I bought it back in March of 2013 and never got a notice, does it still apply to me?

Do I take it back to the Honda dealership or do I go to a Jeep dealership (I do have a warranty I bought for it that covers everything)?

Thanks, I would really like to get this taken care of!

Yes if it's not fixed. I'd take it to a Jeep dealer it's covered through Chrysler.

The 2010 is not covered by the extended warranty notice from Chrysler. But if you push it, they may cover it.

Sorry, I thought it was 08-10's. I should have looked before I answered.

Yeah, unfortunately my KK isnt covered,...Jeep pretty much said to take it back to the dealer where I bought it and see if they can replace it (if its covered under my warranty)

Hi all,
I have a 08 KK with 90K miles, this issue just started to happen, Will this be covered under the "X46 Lifetime Warranty Extension" and what is that extension?

The fuel burp can be fixed till the day that the Jeep dies.

Yes, all 2008's are covered.
Click the link in my previous post and it will take you to all the KK Technical Service Bulletins. Click on the 2008 model year, and scroll down to the one about fuel spitback/burp.

Great!
Thank you for the news. I will call my dealer tomorrow.
BUT, Unfortunately I dislike the customer service at my dealer due the fact that they don't give you 100% caring feel that your vehicle needs service.

I will start with them 1st since it's across the street from my office, Or I will just take it to my other Jeep dealer where I bought my '15 Jeep Wrangler which is 30 mins away

They might not know what you're talking about right away.
Have your VIN and TSB ready when they say they have no idea.

This might work. I asked about it when I was there and they said they had the part on hand, but only one of them.

I just had mine fixed. When they look up your vin you have to tell them to look under the warranty section. Its the gas check valve and they extended it to a lifetime warranty. I had trouble convincing then the problem was covered too haha
