Have your VIN and TSB ready when they say they have no idea.

I just had mine fixed. When they look up your vin you have to tell them to look under the warranty section. Its the gas check valve and they extended it to a lifetime warranty. I had trouble convincing then the problem was covered too haha

Does this apply to the 2007 model year (KJ) as well?

This particular warranty extension does not include the KJ. Only the 07-08 KA and 08 KK.

Ya, It'd be nice if they did it for all the years, and all the rigs they used the same tanks in. :juggle:
Recently, as you can see earlier in this thread, even with the "new designed" tanks there are still folks having this problem. I've seen up to 2010 rigs with it.

I bought my 2011 last year and had to have the dealer replace it immediately.

 You're the first 2011 owner I've heard of having the problem. :( How many miles are on your KK?

Mine does it as well, gotta get it back to the dealership and get it fixed. I've been only filling it to 3/4 tank to avoid getting the side of my truck, my pants leg and shoes splashed with gas.

This is an old thread. I had the tank replaced x46 campaign done Monday in my wife's 08 Liberty. Filling it got annoying having gas spill out. The dealer was nice to deal with, and they did some free checks and handed me back a "report card" of sorts stating the Jeep was in great shape and well maintained. No up-selling which was a pleasant experience. Anyway first trip to the gas station, no spilled fuel, but the pump did click off three times long before it was filled. I will gas it up again tonight, but have a feeling I might be going back to the dealer. I'm really not thrilled with that possibility.

I found that sliding out the fuel pump just a bit from the jeep cures that issue.

Ie don't stick it in so far haha

^Thanks- I ended up doing that on the third try, I was really hoping that issue was resolved though. I chickened out of filling it though, I just cleaned it and didn't want gas washing down the side. I'll fill it tonight, and keep my fingers crossed. The dealer was good but I don't want to go back.

I threw in a bit more gas, the pump clicked off a twice, nothing spilled so I'm going to call it good.

Will do, and thanks for your interest! We love that 08 Liberty. Other than this gas tank issue it has been a problem free vehicle, which is surprisingly easy to work on which is a plus. My wife wishes they never discontinued it.

So far I got lucky, no problems with my tank. I just don't know if the rollover valve in mine is stuck open or working correctly. Hope I never have to find out!

I bought my 2008 Liberty back in December with 100K miles. It would overflow every time I filled it up. I googled this issue and found this topic with the solution to my problem! I took this info to my local Jeep dealer and today they replaced my gas tank and an o-ring for free! I filled up my tank and no overflow... thank you LostJeeps!!

Here is a little quote from one of my emails I sent to another member:

Quote:
A warranty extension has been granted on the inlet check valve. Letters should be in the mail starting Mid March. As far as I know, this info has not leaked down to the dealer network yet. I called my local dealer and they stated that they could not find any record of a new TSB, Recall, or X46. The service writer then advised me to call Chrysler customer care at 1800 992 1997.

After I got through to a live operator, she pulled my VIN and confirmed that there was some sort of warranty extension. At that point she then gave me a vague explanation of the X46.

Now one of the the things that could have confused mt dealer is he said that there was some sort of California emissions warranty coding on my Jeep that made it look like it was a vehicle that was purchased in California. When I told him it was a special order Jeep for Colorado, he said I don't know.

Hey digger the pad isn't coming up anymore is here a way I could get it?

I know this is an old thread but did they warranty it??? I have a 2011 also with the same problem.

And if you did get it covered do you have the paperwork still?

I have a 2011 with 60,000 miles that just started doing this. Just to help keep track of the continued problems. I'm going to call Chrysler Customer Care and my local dealership when they open to see if I can get a repair.
