I will be brutally honest here..

About a month after I bought my KK I made my own using a K&N cone filter, same size that comes with the kit. The results: no improvements whatsoever. No mileage gains, throttle response or power. Yes I know the tube that comes with the kit would be a straighter shot.
I loved the one I put in my 02 Tacoma though.

^what he said

I took mine off last year before the monsoons and its still sitting in the box a year later. Save your money and buy something cool, like a lift or something. A cold air has no business on a Jeep. Just my .02

I had the real deal K&N on mine and ended up taking it off because of all the water crossings i was doing. I didnt notice it at the time of install but when I uninstalled it I gained about 1/2 MPG and low end power where the KK needed it most. Keep the factory intake and get a good filter, like Amsoil.
