Hello all, I have been quietly enjoying my new "used" 08' Liberty, its been great but now I am starting to question it. At around 18-20 MPH I get this small in and out vibration, I hear and feel it, and then again sometimes between 35-40mph. It does not happen at all times in these ranges but enough to worry me, it sounds almost like those road side strips, the ones that warn you that you are on the shoulder... very odd. I just had it in the shop where I bought it from, they replaced the #3 Cylinder coil and it's spark plug..but nothing else, apparently it was misfiring. Yet I just drove back and the vibration is still there.... ![]() |

It's the torque converter. There's a TSB for it. I had it done and it solved everything. |

Does the vibration happen because the engine is lugging-- like the tranny should downshift, but isn't? If so, there is a TSB for that in the KK Tech section. |

The tranny seems to downshift fine, it's just vibrating shortly before it shifts up, it may be something that only happens in higher RPM's? Thanks for the tips guys, this is my first time doing anything of this type, how does one go about using the TSB? I am out of warranty, or at least the standard jeep one... also its not really a shutter its more of a vibration like entering and leaving those road strips. |

Go to the dealer. They can diagnose it or you can just have them perform it. It was $100. |

Keep in mind there is a TSB for it if that's the case. I brought the paper in since the dealer wasn't really sure what I was talking about. It should be in the Technical section. |

Alright, I guess I can walk in with that tonight, they still have not found anything "called about 10 minutes ago." I'm not sure how TSB's work with Ford dealers when you purchase used, but I should hope that they can determine something..I was even able to reproduce it with a technician in the vehicle the night I brought it in.. Though it does not feel like the TSB linked: Quote: Some customers may complain of a drone sound or a condition that feels like an irregular, very short, slight deceleration as if the vehicle is being "tugged" from behind. This condition exists between 1000 and 1600 rpm, 38 to 45 mph at constant speed. This condition will be more noticeable during a light acceleration within the 38 to 45 mph vehicle speed. Its a vibration like road strips..who knows.. UPDATE: They won't be able to do the system flash at the Ford dealership "of course." But it seems that is likely the problem.. TSB18-023-09 that is.. I will let you guys know when I get time to take it to a Jeep shop. |
