I have been having issues with my ESCOFF and 4WD lights coming on sporadically when driving in 2WD. When these lights are on, it will not shift out of 2WD, and when off it will shift to 4WD. Took it over to the dealer and the codes that came back are:

FDCM C1403 - Transfer Case Range Position Sensor Performance (stored)
FDCM C1404 - Transfer Case Range Position Circuit Low (active)

They said they are backed up for the next 3 days, so I decided not to leave it and see what I could find out before forking over the $$$. Any ideas? I'm ready to trade her in at 45k miles and having already put it in the shop 3 times for warranty work. :banghead:

Dunno if it helps much, maybe add more to the confusion, but here's a little more info on those codes: http://www.jeep-questions.com/articles/aid/14/t/transfer_case_module_diagnostic_trouble_codes/default.aspx

Does anyone know what the FDCM looks like? I would obviously like to start troubleshooting there, but I have no clue what to look for.

The FDCM is above the driver side footwell all the way to the left. If you pop the kneeblocker out, it is right there. Its a silver control module right above that cubby bin on the left hand side.

Thank you sir, I will take a look tonight.

Almost to the point of giving up here. The A/C is intermittent as well, which makes me think the clutch/compressor are going or it's another electrical issue. :(
