| Post subject: | SFA KK FIGURED OUT, ONE PROBLEM |
FOR MONTHS I HAVE BEEN PUTTING ALL OF THE PIECES TOGETHER FOR THE SWAP ON MY 08 6 SPEED. TOTALY DOABLE BTW, AND NOT OUTRAGEOUSLY EXPENSIVE TO DO. I HAVE ALL OF THE RESOURCES TO DO IT, AND REALLY YOU DONT NEED MUCH. THE POSSIBILITY OF GETTING BOMBARDED WITH QUESTIONS ON THIS THREAD IS INEVITABLE, HOWEVER I WILL MOST DEFINATLY POST A LONG AND DETAILED WRITE UP AS WELL AS MANY PICTURES WITH THIS EXPERIANCE ONCE ITS COMPLETE, SO I ASK THE KIND FOLKS HERE TO LIMIT THEIR RESPONSES TO THE ONE AND ONLY ASPECT OF THE SAS THAT I HAVE NO ANSWER FOR, AND AM TOTALY CLUELESS OF. TO MAKE THIS SHORT AND SWEET, THE AXLE I'M USING IS AN HP DANA 30 W/ABS. I KNOW THE ONLY AXLE THAT WILL WORK WITH THE ECU AND COMMUNICATE WILL BE FROM A JK 07 AND UP, EITHER THE 30 OR THE 44. THE AXLE I HAVE IS FROM AN XJ WITH ABS. THERE IS NO WAY I THINK I CAN MAKE THE ECU COMMUNICATE. REALLY, I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO MAKE THE ABS/TRACTION CONTROL WORK WITH THIS, I'M FAR FROM BEING AN ELECTRICAL ENGINEER, AND THIS PART IS WAY BEYOND THE SCOPE OF MY KNOWLEGE, I BASICALLY HAVE NO IDEA HOW I CAN MAKE THIS WORK BESIDES GETTING A COMPLETE JK AXLE SET UP WHICH I TOTALLY DONT HAVE THE CASH FOR. I BELIEVE THE JK AND KK SHARE MANY OF THE SAME ASPECTS WITH REGARDS TO THE ECU AND WHEEL SENSORS. I HAVE A FEW IDEAS ON MAKING THIS WORK AND THEY ARE CRAZY, BUT MIGHT TURN OUT PERFECT, BUT ANY FEEDBACK HERE WOULD BE AWESOME. I KNOW THERE ARE TONS OF FOLKS HERE THAT HAVE THE ANSWER FOR ME, ANY INFO WILL HELP. THANKS. |

Kind of hurts to read a post that is in all caps. Anyways, good luck and you'll probably get a response from one of those KJ fellas that knows everything about SAS Libertys. |

And since there is a whole section devoted to just SFAs you'd have better response posting there I do know I wouldn't go with a 30 in the front but then the JK is wider so you'd have to use both front and rear and then the whole electronics is more than what you're planning on working with |

I'm a newbie in what SFA's concerns, but I found this pictures, one is a JK front wheel speed sensor, and the other one is a KK front wheel speed sensor. They look very similar, maybe this helps .KK JK

Is the XJ axle fitted for 2 channel ABS? Also the second issue your probably going to run in to is getting the tone signal from the abs sensor to match the signal that the KK abs sensor puts off |

Thanks for all of the feedback so far. I think I have figured it out, and please chime in if my logic is crazy |

I think I have figured it out, and please chime in if my logic is crazy I know you said you wouldn't pay for a JK axle but if you change of mind, you can install a ABS sensor for JK on the KK and see if they are compatible I'll be waiting for pics of your progress

BTW - khalilw thanks for your research. The jk axles will work, however the axle is roughly 65" and the kk's is 60.5", same as an hp dana 30 out of an xj, therefore im going with a xj axle. For puroposes of this thread, the xj hp D30 and a Dana 44 from a 03-06 Rubicon are both 60.5". These axles are your best bet for a KK SAS b/c they have abs and you can keep the same length front and rear. I would love more than anything to get a pair of Rubicon axles front and rear, it would make life good with the ECU, and you would have a great axle, however I didn't hit the Powerball and I gotta tread modestly on this to people once its all said and done. Since the KK is discontinued, and time goes on, and more get older, and cheaper to purchase. Once people pay off thier notes, and one day wake up and look at their KK and say, " hey! a sfa liberty would look cool!", and I want a trail rig , more and more people will do SAS KK's, the SAS liberty section here is proof. Sorry totally went off subject there |

Do you think an entire oem unit bearing assay from the kk fit right into an xj axle shaft? or new axle shafts that will work, plus this? |

Does anybody on here know for sure how many splines the tone ring has on a KK ( think its 54 but not sure), and also how many a jk axle has? im leaning towards scraping the hp dana 30 and just saving for jk axles front and rear now granted the same amount of splines exist on the jk. Im goning to do more research for sure but if this is the case the ecu in the kk reated to ABS, CC and speedo, is the same as the jk, should be as simple as plug and play in this case if i can find axles with the entire brake assay in it. Craigslist has jk axles that come up all the time, and cheap. the fab work is the least of my worries and a wider stance would be ideal as well. why not. Also if i can get some from a Rubi , seen some a few weeks ago in the state to the south of me for $600 !

I was just reading through this thread and thought of something else. Any ABS pre 2007 uses a low speed CAN BUS for communication. The 08+ is high speed CAN. |

I believe the high speed CANBUS system was implemented for the 2011 model year... Unless there were three speeds... Pre 08, 08-10, 11+ |
