I've had my 2010 Liberty for a couple of months now and It's just under 30k miles.

I've been noticing that sometimes when I'm sitting at a light and I put my foot on the gas when the light changes it goes but feels bogged down, RPMs to rise, and I just kinda roll. Letting my foot off the gas and accelerating again seemed to correct this issue. Today it did the same thing, but stalled out completely before I let my foot of the gas. Pushed it off the road, turned the key and it started up fine.

I looked around the forum a bit and didn't see anything that seemed to match this problem.

I'm not the best when it comes to mechanics so I figured I'd ask here and see if anyone has any ideas.

Were you by chance on an incline? I've had this issue on a different Jeep. It ended up being trash in the gas tank. I used a bottle of STP fuel cleaner and premium fuel. It fixed the issue.

No. I had originally thought it could be fuel and tried that, doesn't seemed to have done much unless the fuel is really bad and I need to do it several times.

I had something similar happen once and it was the fuel pump, but this seems different.

No one asked if it has been maintained properly?
Spark plugs ever been changed? You're due.
Might want to check your air filter also.

that is an issue with the traction control. not really an issue but they wery sensitive and it it feels that there will be wheel spin it will cut the gas. rps raise to 3k more or less and the car barely moves or stalls.

i found this out on my 2010 that stalled on 4hi coming out of a water hole, then when getting on an incline after a long sand drive and then trying to reverse on a hill. it won't happened on 4lo, but if you disable the traction control by pressing the tc button for five seconds it wont happen on 4hi.

lot of jeeps have the issue specially jku with the 3.8 and lot of forum post about it.

you need to live with that and that is how the kk is designed, you can not spin the wheels or id the computer sences that it is going to happen it will cut the gas.

now ig you start the car and a second later you nail the gas down it will take of and this wont happens. you can partially disable the traction control on 2wd by pressing the buttom and it wont stall unless you are on a really slippery surface.

I got it about 2 months ago from a dealership. The whole certified pre-owned thing. I assumed they would have done that, but that may be a bad assumption.

I thought I had the traction control over but I could be wrong. I'll check this out and let you know.

I would not assume and change the spark plugs asap. Luckily, they're very easy and cheap. Regular copper core plugs. Make sure you check the gaps on them. :)

If it's certified preowned do/did you have 3month 12,000 mile warranty? With the certified coverage you should only have a deductible.
It might be worth a trip to dealer.

So I checked the spark plugs and battery, that's good.

Traction Control is off so no dice there.

I have a 90 bumper to bumper warranty, and extended warranty (cant remember the mileage or time off hand on that right now).

It's currently at the dealer ship to get checked out. Unfortunately it happens randomly and there is nothing specific I can find to recreate the problem, so I'm guessing I'm going to get in back saying they found nothing.

Hoping dealer can be of help.

I have a button with the traction control images that says off. When I press it the traction control light turns on/off on the dash board. No clue which is on or off or what the difference is to be honest. I'm still new and learning.

I have the 90 bumper to bumper warranty (along with some other extended one) and took it in yesterday. They didn't find anything but did notice the software on one of the computer systems (cant remember which at the moment but he said it was one of the two major) was on the original version. They updated and are 99% sure that will correct the problem.

I test drove it last night when I picked it up and had no issue. Seems to accelerate more smoothly as a whole, but that may be in my head. I'll give it a couple days and let you all know.

When you turn the traction control "off" an image will appear on the dash.
Keep us posted.

That seems counter intuitive thanks for that though. I don't think I need it for everyday driving here in the flattest place ever.

No problem. I definitely was curious about that, too when I first got my KK. The only way to shut it off 100 percent is to pull the fuse for it.

Is that something I really need on flat roads?

Personally, I wouldn't remove it.
Some members here have a "kill switch" for it which you might want to look into. I'd say at least 3 members have done this mod.
Ya never know when that traction control might actually save your life. :2cents:

Pulling the fuse or using the "kill switch mod" also kills your ABS. So just a heads up there. The button itself on the dash gives a bit more of a tolerance for wheelspin. It'll kick in, but won't be as severe and normally the engine can overpower the brakes.

Hey all sorry for the lack of update. I thought the issue had gone, but it came back and dumped some high grade fuel system cleaner into it, because the issue reminds me of something that happened with another car (fuel pump was bad).

It works fine most of the time now until I get down to 1/4 tank of gas and then it starts doing it a lot. Thoughts?

4hi. transmission in neutral
hold the trac control button for 5 seconds and you can "disable" it like you do on 4lo.
but this is not completely disabled like when you remove the fuses.

many people don't use this trick, in this mode your brakes will apply a little to the spinning wheel but it won't cut the gas, basically like having a limited slip diff.

you can also disable the hill start assistant
