Sounds like a good idea to keep it face up if it fits like that.

I got a full size matching spare when I upgraded my tires. Today it was nice enough I finally had a chance to swap it out for my donut. (245/75/16 just fits) I put it in the hoist face up so the outer face of the rim is facing up. Does the orientation matter at all? I figure this way the front of the rim won't be exposed to as much road blast. |

I believe it fits better if the outside facing part of the wheel is facing up. Atleast when I had to use my spare it was positioned that way. What did you use for a 5th wheel? |

I guess it depends on the wheel and if you can get to the valve with it face up. |

I got a matching stock rim, it's the machines aluminum with the brownish gray accent paint. I am planning on running a 5 wheel rotation, so it will be coming down every 6k. |

In that case just run it face up like you said to protect the good side. That is how they come from the factory. |

I'd go face up as well. Not only to protect the finish, but to protect the valve stem when wheeling. |

I actually use a towel to wrap around it before I put it back...because I got a flat tire but didn't want scratch the OEM rim.
