I posted in an existing thread in the electronics section but I'm not sure how many people browse that area, so I thought I'd post here, too.

I'm looking to add an amplified sub to my KK. Nothing too crazy or loud but I want a little extra sound.

In that thread, the AOEM-CHR3 is mentioned as the necessary device for the poster's RES130 radio. I'm assuming the aforementioned device would work for my application as well? 2012 KK with the RBZ radio.

In the past I've gone to Crutchfield and they've been helpful and provided me with everything I'd need. I reached out to them this time and they've failed to mention my need for this device.

It's been a while since I've installed a system and need a refresher. Obviously I'll need RCAs and an amp kit but what else am I missing?

You have to buy a thing that taps into speaker wire that converts it into RCA ports to run the amp where are you located

Ok. I had seen those before and figured I could tap into the rear speakers. I just wasn't sure if the device I listed previously was still required.

Where would I tap in behind the radio?

I'm not looking for anything custom but thanks. I'm looking at just a small sub for a little extra sound. I don't want it to take up a lot of room in the back, either.

Yes you want the CHR3 unit, they are not very costly...This will be the only way to really control everything added correctly from the stock radio. Sure you can tap back speakers, but its a rigged not perfect way of doing it. That PAC plugs right into the stereo, and has everything done for you, plug in amp and then plug speakers to the amp.

I did this last year as well, replaced front door speakers and added a 4ch amp with sub. Worked like a charm and sounds great. I think the PAC was $39.

Ok, thanks. I'd like to make this as easy as possible. So obviously I'll need speaker wire, too.
