A question was asked on another thread that deserved a thread of it's own: viewtopic.php?f=104&t=76079 QUESTION: Phil, here's a random question and a slight thread hijack... But you would be the one to ask. I am thinking of mounting a Scangauge II into the back of the coin holder by the defrost vents. Is there any room behind the coin holder for me to sink the gauge there and mount it? I think I would need about 2-3 inches of room behind it. Thanks, Lauren Answer: From what I can see, there is only 3/4" to 1" clearance between the back of the "Coin Holder/Tray" in the center of the dash and the defrost duct. Phil |

Thanks, Phil. I was hoping for more space, but you saved me from hours of tearing apart my dash only to have to put it back together without being able to mount my Scangauge there. I appreciate it. ![]() |

That's the spot! My Scangauge is mounted with Velcro to the top of the steering column currently. One issue I have there is glare from the backlight on my windshield at night. I was wondering about mounting it permanently, sunk into in the back of the coin tray. Google "Scangauge single din" and you can see how some people have flush mounted it in their dashboards like their radio. This is what I was hoping to do here, but it seems like there won't be enough room for it in this location. |

It's not even secured down well, and NEVER budges under city and highway use. |

Behind the radio is spot for a 4"x4" box of some sort. I put my ham radio external speaker there. |
