Post subject:  rear differential seal

I was checking under my jeep and noticed a small red rubbery thing sticking out of the rear differential case. (See pic). I believe the nuts were tightened too much that the seal or gasket bulged out.

Should I get this checked out? I never touched it before and the jeep drives fine. I don't want techs opening it and making it worse. Don't wanna fix what's not broken

Please let me know your thoughts.

Sorry don't know how to add pic. Using my phone.
Thanks

It´s the sealant, there is normally not a seal, everything´s fine....

Like he said ^^^
When the diff cover is installed a room temperature vulcanized (RTV) liquid sealant is applied. Some of it will squeeze out when the bolts are tightened.
