Im looking to move back home soon and wanting to rent the 6x12 uhaul trailer. Probably looking at 3000lbs if not some more between the 2 tool boxes i have. How much weight or size even have you guys run with the kk? Any advice or no-nos would be great. Not my first rodeo with trailers, just always had a full size and v8 to do it with(that is sitting at home 900 miles away lol).

Do you have a hitch? How about the tow package?
That weight should be more than okay for a KK.
I'm sure someone that has towed before will chime in with better advice and questions.

~5000 pound boat with trailer brakes around the a couple of blocks as a test when I installed our hitch. It handled great.

Yeah tow package. No hitch as of right now. Ether going to buy a factory off one of the members or get a uhaul hitch. Alright that makes me feel better. First time hauling with this vehicle so it makes me a little hesitant going 900 miles unproven.

Your Jeep would have the hitch already if it has the factory tow package.

One of the big problems with pulling trailers is transmission temp. As the temp goes above 180 you really cut into the oil life. Maybe someone here knows how to take the temp of the trany oil? I don't. Have any of you put a temp guage on your transmission. I know there is a warning light on mine if it gets to hot but thats like a oil light it's a bit to late when it comes on. Drive it so you get lock up to help with temp.

Haven't heard anyone with a solution yet.
Even ScanGauge doesn't allow you to look at the trans temp. :(

The hitch was taken off before I owned it. Sucks but owell just means I have to buy one for it. I'm not as worried about the oil and temp. It just got its full synthetic change and will have to take a brake for gas and to let the dogs out anyways on the way back up north. Moving is still about 2 months away, but figured I start plannin beforehand. Im sure its going to be fun anyways pulling with the lift and m/t's but me and the wife don't have a whole lot, especially bigger things like the bed and tool boxes. Its just cheaper and easier to rent a trailer then rent another truck.

I've pulled fully loaded trailers from Northwest Ohio to Boston and back and also from here to Orlando. I have a 6X10 single axle enclosed that I used on both trips.
Trip to Orlando was with a Harley bagger , plus two big tool boxes and clothes/furniture etc for my nephew.
Just be careful with stopping, keeping a clear distance in front of you, all normal things when you pull. OH and all of those trips were done lifted 4 inches as well . Wouldn't even do it unlifted with stock suspension on a KJ or a KK.

Ah, that makes sense. Definitely unfortunate since the OEM hitch is nicely hidden.

I would get the Mopar hitch over u haul. It tucks up nicely under the bumper and offers rear armor (the main reason I bought it).
