All knowing Liberty Enthusiasts,
I currently do not own a Liberty, so I am new to the game. My Girlfriend has a 2011 Liberty which she bought a 2.5" Daystar lift for. (I know, I have read everyone's reviews on here before signing up) I am looking at getting American Racing ATX Series Slot Wheels in 16x8 with a 0 Offset for a 4.5" Backspacing. Is this wheel too wide/ stick out too far with a 245/75-16 Tire? Anyone running a setup similar to this? Do you have any issues with rubbing at all?

These are the wheels I am looking at getting her: http://www.ebay.com/itm/16x8-American-Racing-ATX-Slot-Chrome-Wheel-Rim-s-5x114-3-5-114-3-5x4-5-16-8/161135474086?_trksid=p2045573.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20002%26meid%3D4148557359884194583%26pid%3D100033%26prg%3D8920%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D251386802394%26#vi-ilComp

Any help is appreciated, as I am not used to the Jeep world of things, I mainly customize Fords. I have a 13 Mustang Gt, and a 07 Saleen S331 S/C. Thanks for any insight!

The 8" wide might make you have rub. Tom will definitely know more about that though. As for 8" being too wide for 245s, no it's not "too" wide, but some prefer to go with a 7" rim for the sake of airing down and not having to worry about losing a bead.

I run a 16x8 rim with a +6 Offset, 245/75/16 tyres on a 2" Lift. I get no rubbing anywhere with that setup under steering lock or flex. I prefer the wider stance it gives me and the tyres sit perfectly flush with (maybe marginally outside) the flares.

7 inch works way better and will have the tire flush with the flare instead of sitting out and throwing dirt etc up the sides. Something to think about when the girlfriend gets out in a white pair of capri's .

I'm not sure my offset for the cragar soft 8's but i have a 16x8 wheel as well. No lift, and the tires sit flush with the fender if not slightly past.

I have no issues with rubbing and it looks great!

Ok, I think the stock wheels are 16x7 with a 5.5" Backspace or a +38 Offset. You went to a 16x8 with a +6 Offset which gives you roughly 4.75" Backspace. So, if I did my math correctly, your aftermarket wheel pushes the tire out 1.75" from the stock wheel. 1" for the wider wheel, and .75" for the difference in Offset/Backspacing. So for the ones I'm looking at; I would be a full 2" wider. I'm more worried that being that wide the edges of the tire will hit the fenders, I don't think I will get rubbing on any of the suspension parts.

Also one more question, If I lift her KK, can she still drive it lifted on 235/70-16 tires and stock wheels until its time for those to be replaced? When I did my old 01 Ranger, I did a 3" Suspension Lift and 33x12.5-15 Tires on 15x10 wheels at the same time. I was thinking about throwing those on there since I still have them in my garage (Just need a little polishing) but then I got on here and saw that without extensive suspension mods, the max these things can go is a 31.8" tire overall diameter. Thanks again and keep :JEEPIN:

Driving on stock wheels is fine. It might look a little funny with all the room in the wells, but it won't ever hurt anything.

Lots of differences between lifting and fitting new tires on a Ranger and a KK
With the tires on the Ranger there pictured you didn't have any flex room at all did you
KKs look way better lifted than any Ranger ever did as well  :ROTFL:

Trust me that old Ranger could definitely hold it's ground with these Liberties. I was able to flex, and never got to the point that I tore anything up. It may not flex as much as the liberties can but I was more into being in the mud out in the Everglades, not too many rocks to crawl over down here! That thing also had some power (a little false advertising on the hood) as it was powered with a 4.6L Cobra engine..... Oh, and you better believe it had its fun pulling out some of my buddies wranglers.

Also these are the same size tires, just A/T's instead of M/T's you couldn't tell from the original pic how much room there was! Image

Ok, the Ranger did have a 4.6L Cobra Engine in it, It got totaled in Hurricane Wilma back in 05 or 06 whenever it was, I ended up going to College in NY where I couldn't own a car until my Senior year, at which point I bought my Grandfather's Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. After Graduating I bought the Saleen S331 S/C F150 #293 of 500 from Courtesy Ford in Poulsbo, Wa. Bought it without ever seeing it and had it shipped to FL. Came from the factory with the Stage II upgrade kit, that was special ordered from Saleen. From there, I have put a lot of work into the Saleen and it is now at 512 RWHP. but it is my show truck so it sits in the Garage and comes out on weekends now. I ordered my 13 Mustang Gt in January of 2012, had it delivered in April. I had more parts sitting in the garage waiting for that car than I knew what to do with, and I wasn't sure any of them would fit until after I got the car. Luckily everything I had worked except a chin spoiler. which is ok with me. Here they are:

Nope, still not enough flex room in the wheelwells for me  :-)r
Did like the Rangers though, had one and after 3 engines in 48,000 miles they gave me my full purchase price back. Last one went racing a Firebird. Yours looked pretty good.
Mine ( the one on the right ) with 32s

Since we have Ford pickups in here already , ....My last Ford F150, bought new out of the dealer showroom, (Jack Roush equipped) and then 3 weeks later engine torn down to "build" it to my "specs" Was also lowered a bit more after this photo

Tom,
You have a pretty sweet setup there! You can definitely see a whole lot more wheel well in yours than my old ranger! I know I lost some "lift" by putting that 4.6 in there, Not sure the suspension was designed to hold the extra weight, but it was good for what I used it for. I'm surprised you had that many issues with your Ford's... I've never had any major issues other than front wheel hub bearings on both my Ranger and Saleen. The only reason I did the engine swap in my Ranger was because I got an excellent deal on the motor when my buddy swapped his out for a custom built one. Either way, I do like my GF's Liberty, its a little small for me since I have gotten used to the F-150 and I am a bigger guy, but its perfect for her. She just wants to make her truck bigger and more capable than it is now. I think it would've been easier if she got a Wrangler since I know a little more about those, but its what she wanted and now its up to me to figure everything out. It's a great learning experience and you guys are a lot of help on here!

Fords look great. And of course a Wrangler would have been easier. But the question is, would it stand out as much?

Where do you find a girl that wants to make her Libby bigger?
My girlfriend has a Civic. :banghead:
She pretty much understands the Jeep thing by now especially since she points out nice Jeeps when we are on the road.

Best reaction I had was when my girlfriend saw it for the 1st time after lifting and putting the duratracs on it. I didn't see here for a few days since I couldn't align it at the time. Where it sat in my driveway, I was sitting at over 4" of lift and she walked up and said "Oh my god you turned it into a monster!" That just means I'm doing it right...

Lol I'm sure my girlfriend would have said the same thing if I added bigger tires. Girls say whatever is on their minds.
I tried to see how long it would take till she realized my lift. I think it was a day and a half. She saw the yellow shocks and goes "What do those do?"
EDIT: Even better I've not once had a complaint about the stiffer ride, not even from her mother who rides in it from time to time. 8)
