Wiring led light bar to high beams?

Anyone ever try wiring auxilliary lights to come on with the high beams? I'd like to wire my new 20" chinese led light bar to come on with the high beams, turn on solo whether the Jeep is turned on or not, and also be able to use the high beams/low beams just the way it came. I have my reverse lights circuitry rigged up similar to this, so I understand how the wiring would work. Here is a diagram for what I'd like to do.

What I'm afraid of is it interfering with the canbus system. I remember a couple years ago a bunch of people trying to install hids in kk's and having problems even when using relays.
Also I haven't looked around to see where I could tap in to trigger the relay for this set up.

This is what I did to control the DRL. full brightness when light is off, and dim it when headlight is on. It's very similar to your setup.

Have it work like the headlights stay on when unlock and shut off when locked and work with a switch normally

Not sure if thats possible without your light bar flashing when you use your turn signals too.

I did look at the wiring for the headlights the other day. The wire that powers the high beams has 3.8 volts running through it while the low beams are on. When the high beams get switched on, it goes up past 12. I read that most relay's coil closes at around 8 volts so I think this might work.
For anyone wondering why I want to run it like this, my commute involves a bit of rural highway driving with a lot of deer. Yes I do plan on using this on a public highway BUT I will know way in advance that there is oncoming traffic.

This is what you're looking for. I've been using this method for years with my different lights (fog, auxiliary reverse)
Very easy to do, all you need is a standard relay, and an ON-OFF-ON switch.

Got the wiring finished today on my lunch break (in a parking lot). The switch set up works great! The only change I made to Infericus' diagram was tying the two + hots together having one fused connection at the battery. The light itself is bright as a mofo. It's a lot brighter than it looks in the pics.

Low beams only

Well last night when driving home my headlights went out... Thankfully I have fogs or I would have been screwed.
I disconnected the wire from the highbeam circuit and returned it to stock but its still not working. The headlight just flickered a little.
Any ideas?

Maybe the headlight relay or a fuse id check first. Im sure you did that

Can't find any fuses or relays related to the headlights, I seems to be controlled by the tipm.
The high beams work normally now, but still no headlights.
I took readings with my multimeter, only 3.8v going to the low beams.

Disconnect the battery let the computer reset then try it

Hi Morgan,

I found the headlight troubleshooting section in the FSM. It looks like you might have more than a fuse or relay problem, as a lot of issues can be caused by loss of connection with the TIPM or CAN. See below.

Thank you so much for posting that. I did test everything I could with a multimeter, I really wasn't looking forward to going to the dealership for them to use a starscan or tell me I eff'd up big time.

I left the battery disco'd all day and everything works normal for now. Hopefully it stays that way. Last night I disconnected it for ten mins or so, apparently it takes longer.

Glad to hear it seems to have resolved itself! A similar thing happened when I was putting in a light switch in my trunk area. I accidentally shorted my interior lights, and they all went out. I couldn't get them to turn on using the switch on the light stalk up front, or by opening doors. I checked the fuses and they were good. I thought I was in to real trouble, but disconnecting the battery for a while somehow reset the breaker!
