I still do not understand how system works, ScarO has tried to explain it. Do you have a KK with just the Icon that lights? I'm thinking that it wouldn't really read 5 tires. If mine can reset with the tires in the pole barn or by parking by another Chrysler product, then what would a 5th be doing ?
You only need the fifth one if you plan to use it in your tire rotation.
I'd think it would read the 4 were ever they were, with my system. Somebody needs to do and post up the results.
It is actually a simple system and very robust. It is basically a VERY CLOSE proximity system. There are 4 transmitters (the sensors in the wheel) and 4 receivers. The receivers are in the wheel well. They will only pick up the transmitters when they are actually in the wheel well. This is why it won't pick up the stored spare, or an adjacent car for that matter.
If you want to see how sensitive it is. With you vehicle running...take off one wheel.. As soon as you pull it from the wheel well the TPM system will show an alert.
Also, since the system is so simplistic, it doesn't need any kind of pairing process.. As soon as a receiver picks up a compatible sensor, it will register.
WRONG.! That's what my point is Mine are 10-15 foot away from my KK in my pole barn and they reset every night . And other vehicle's have reset mine. This just happened again Tuesday and I think I parked by a mini van.But I have the basic with just the icon in dash.
I've posted about this last year, when I put winter only tires on with out TPMS. I make it a game to see what I park by to reset. It's happened 2 times this winter, once last.
