I'm getting a catalyst code with engine light on. Buddy read code and cleared it because I need an inspection. Way over due. :( ...... ran sea foam through engine to see if it would clear cat enough so light wouldn't come on but it did 10 miles after. He made some calls and said it's a dealer only part and for the cats and y pipe it's gonna be like 872.oo and it's on back order for an undetermined amount of time. does anyone know or have used aftermarket cats for alot less money. I can't see how u can't just change the cats not the whole pipe from the dealer. Please help

Thanks
Kevin.

There's a guy on you tube that shows you how to clean them. Not sure if I'd try it.

If you're under 80,000 miles, you should still be under warranty for emissions parts.

You sure it's not just a failing o2 sensor?

Finally got it to pass. Buddy had a trick. We used an o2 sensor extension nipple. Take the sensor out of cat put nipple in then put sensor back in so it's not so far into pipe and doesn't read as much. Drove truck 60 miles cleared all codes passed first shot

Works when you're catless as well, it's what I'm doing to fool obd2 on my catless down pipe on my Mazdaspeed. It can be easily made from drilling out a spark plug anti-fowler.
