once the bracket is mastered I will let him make some to sell here just called him and he is at jeepbeach already. he was busy making roll cages for the event I guess after jeep beach I can stop at the shop |

this is not a solid connection. only for the looks. I am working on a bracket that attaches directly to the unibody of the kk and the crossmember to allow the use of a winch. should be ready soon. in the first page I have a raw squetch of the idea |

I hit a snag this weekend on my adapter, seems like the inside of the unibody is 2&1/8" by 2&5/8" by my measurements... which is a pretty odd size & also means my 2"x3" tube I got won't work. As for the previous pictures & the question of sturdyness.. the factory tow hooks mount to that same cross member so it can't be that unsafe but the issue I was running into is if I space it away from the cross member too much it really looks odd. I've settled on an adapter that is flush with the cross member but also ties into the factory rails. Now off to find some 2" x 2&1/2" tubing. |

Now off to find some 2" x 2&1/2" tubing.[/quote you are not going to find that size unless you weld two L 2x2 1/4 thick steel. 2x2 steel should work since it need to screwed to the side and the bottom. you can have a gap need to stop at my fabrication guy ans see what he did. my jk bumper arrived already smittybilt xrc. size is the same as the crossmember. cant wait. |

Well I got my steel in so fabrication will start tonight. I''ll be sure to try to take some pictures of the progress. I won't be able to completely finish them tonight as I'll need to take it some place for finish welding as I don't trust my hobby welder to make the strength I need. Stay tuned. |

Adapters are built and stock JK bumper is test fitted. I'm running into an issue with getting the bumper closer to the front cross member... any thoughts? The adapters themselves are pretty strong, 1/4 inch plate welded to 2x2 square tubing 1/4 inch thick. Had to open up the front cross member a little to get the adapters to slide in. Mounting holes to secure it to the frame are not drilled yet until I settle on a final bumper I'm using. Here are some pictures.

mine are extending about 10" to fit the winch bracket from the bumper. i have the same idea plus added an L shape to the 2x2. as a stop so they don't go in more than what i want plus it serves as a bolting point as well. i had the feeling the unibody is tapered so it the bumper is mounted you cant slide it in but you can slide it out. mybe try to oen the plate holes a little and with loose bolts push it in and then tight the bolts it may work it is going great my bumper should arrive monday |
