I would like to add facotry OEM nav if possible, or would it be easier to go aftermarket? does the OEM unit require anything special like a antenna installed?

Its possible but expensive for the NAV. The radio with antenna is around 1k. You'll just have to add the NAv antenna.

The non nav radios are around 350

I'm not sure but I think the satellite radio antenna is the same one used for navigation

Mtnluver had a thread about replacing his antenna for clearance in parking garages. I think it was mentioned there.

I think there are 2 version...one is with amp system and one is without amp. So they use different harness socket size. so double check with the dealer or someone who has the NAV. I had the premium sound upgrade with non-nav unit.

from the site

•If you do not currently have Sirius satellite radio, you will need to purchase our Sirius Dual Antenna Kit for the Sirius satellite radio & GPS navigation to function properly.

I've been playing with this idea! Is it really worth the money? I can get a stand alone GPS. But like the idea of clean dash.

I'm not trying to be difficult this is an honest question. Why doesn't everyone use the nav system built into their phone and an aux cable? That's MUCH MUCH less expensive.

Usually those are receiving a signal from cell towers, the nav system gets its signal from satellites. No tower-no navigation. The factory ones even tell what elevation you're at. I've seen navigation done with a laptop and a satellite receiver. IMO that's a better option.

That's it. I downloaded apps that said use satellites. But they use your phones data to place your location and use the sat's road maps. So no cell no GPS, also I have 2gb not enough.
