Has anyone had any experience with hood blackout decals? With the low-angle light and snow glare around here, I'm seriously considering picking one up. The OEM one (like they install on Arctic Editions) comes in at north of $200. I have found a couple of options on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/231017944849 That being the top-contender because it comes with the spray nozzle cutouts done (don't trust myself to do it right). |

You get what you pay for in vinyl. I would try pixel decal before i would buy from ebay. Guy at work has mustang with ebay stripes, they are cracked, faded and he can't get rid of the car due to the poor quality stripes. Someone here used plasti dip. |

Getting it sprayed matte black would be fantastic, but I want to leave it reversible for the time being (I know, chicken). I shot pixel a PM to see if he offers them for the KK. The auction on eBay I linked to claimed that they used the same Avery vinyl as the OEM stuff... claims, claims... I do more searching and see if I can turn up some customer reviews on their materials. |

Just PlastiDip it then haha. To remove it just use your finger nails to pick up a corner and peel. |

PlastiDip FTW. Plus if you mess up, it's forgiving. |

I used plasti dip for my hood. It didn't turn out quite like I had hoped so I went to peel it off. I had a bit of an issue peeling it all at once due to poor prep but instead bought a bottle of spray goo gone for automotive sticker residue. Melted it right off |

I did the factory type but with the cut outs. I wouldn't recommend these because they do not line up correctly. Just remove the spray nozzles and make a small cut . Put the nozzle back on and it will cover up the cut and look much better. When you install the decal saturate it on both sides with soapy water. Only do half at a time. Keeping the backing on the other half . Get a rubber squeegee and work out the air and water to the edges starting in the middle. Its way easier than it looks. Sorry i don't have a picture . Ill try to post one later |

Murry7 - Great information! Thanks for taking the time to post it. Certainly makes me look at the solid decals again. |

I had one on my wrangler and loved it. Not really sure how much it helped with glare, but it looked sweet! |

I was thinking of ordering one of these for the KK: https://www.alphavinyl.com/shop/allmode ... t-08-12-2/ Does anyone have any experience with this vendor? Good quality? Also, how hard is it to remove/replace the windshield washer nozzles? I don't want to get into this only to find that the washer nozzles are prone to breaking since they are just plastic, although I guess i could just order spares in case that happens... thanks! |

I ordered the vinyl off of Amazon. "Vvivid Black Carbon Fiber" 5ftx6ft and 3M knifeless tape and applied it to my hood. I think it came out awesome! |
