Post subject:  OME Lift +ATH Bumper

Hey Everyone,

With much consideration i am going to be purchasing the OME lift from JBA.com. I have a few questions; Does the kit come with everything I need to complete the lift? How hard is the install to do myself (Coming from someone who has never done a lift) And whats the biggest im going to get on the lift? its says 1.5'' But ive heard guys get 3''. Does the ATH bumper make it easier to fit bigger tires? (ATH On its way)

Installing a lift is not hard if you pay attention
BUT if you have never done one and have only screwed a set of plugs in a lawnmower then its a huge job.
Do you have the tools for the job?
So we don't know what your skill set is so hard to say for you. Me , I tear mine out just to see if waxing them makes it ride better for fun some nights
Fronts take to a shop to have them compressed
rest is unbolt and reinstall basically.
You'll get about 2.25-2.5 inches of lift with nothing else added to them. 3/8 inch Clevis gives you another 3/4 of an inch, `1/4 inch top plate another 1/2 inch etc
All has been explained/ talked over/ discussed many many times on here
Did you order bumpstops for the front and hockey pucks for bumpstops in the rear ?
There are folks all over who have installed theirs or helped, get a Lift M&G going and maybe someone will help you

Helps to fill everything out on your profile etc so we know where you are and what year you have to work with

After cheating a little,  there are a lot of folks in your area that have lifted and may help . Buy Pizza and beer :ROTFL:

That should answer most questions. I've been updating it every now and then too.

Anyways, if you buy the OME kit, make sure you order 927 front springs and 731 rear springs. It's the heavy duty kit and will get 2.5" of lift. If you want more, or find the bumper drops it more than you'd like, add a clevis or top plate like Tom suggests. Also make sure you get the longer rear shocks. Sorry, I don't know which those are anymore, Tom might be able to help.

Once the kit is said and done, all you'll need are bump stops. Order Teraflex fronts and use hockey pucks in the rear.

Can you install it yourself? That depends on your tool set and mechanical ability. I'd say it's rather easy and straight forward, but I've been working on cars, engines, and boats for most of my life. The link I posted has links to some how-to's. All lifts are generally the same.

As for Morgan's bumper helping with larger tires, I wouldn't have the slightest clue. You'd be best to ask him. Honestly, I think a lot of rubbing issues stem from the pinch weld area, which his bumper doesn't change. However, I know a few guys that run 32s have to play with their liner or trim their front bumpers for extra clearance, so it might help there.

 yep.

The first time I took apart my suspension (I think I've done it six times now) I took my time and labeled every bolt and nut that came out and even took some pics just in case. I compressed my OME springs myself, but because they're 400lb springs I HIGHLY recommend taking them to a shop to disassemble/reassemble them for you. What needs to be done is disassemble the factory front spring/shock assembly then reassemble them with your new springs and shock using the factory top hat and rubber isolators. There's a good how to in the Kk tech section by Scar0 on a jba lift, everything is the same.

With your new bumper, the area in front of the tires becomes wide open so no rubbing issues there. There is a pinch weld behind the tire that'll be the closest contact area. You shouldn't have any rubbing issues there with a 245/75/16 tire and 4.25" or less (higher numbered) backspacing.
