Instead of having the wealth of knowledge spread out, I figure we should have one place to list what we've had go wrong and what the signs were so others don't have to search through the rest of the topics. I'll also include the ease of the fixes (both knowledge and tools required) so the less mechanically inclined can choose if they want to tackle the job themselves or hand it off to someone else. Looking back at what I've had, I'm sure glad I have the lifetime powertrain warranty!
Issue: Bad shift solenoid
Mileage: 300
Signs: Limp in mode/stuck in second gear, Check engine light
Fix: Drop trans pan, valve body, replace solenoid
Difficulty: 4/5 (covered under powertrain warranty)
Issue: Bad wheel speed sensor
Mileage: 36k
Signs: ESP/BAS, Trac, SERV 4WD lights on dash, performance DTC in ABS module
Fix: Remove rotor if up front, replace wheel speed sensor
Difficulty: 1/5 for rear, 1.5/5 for front
Issue: Bad throttle body
Mileage: 40k
Signs: ETC light )/(, P2100 DTC in PCM
Fix: Replace throttle body (might as well put in a 4.7L one)
Difficulty: 1/5 (be careful with the connector though)
Issue: leaking water pump
Mileage: 40k, again at 82k
Signs: Coolant level dropping, chirping grinding noise from pulley, coolant spay around engine compartment
Fix: Undo hoses, remove fan if applicable, replace the water pump, refill with new coolant
Difficulty: 2/5 (bit harder if you have the fan) (covered under powertrain warranty)
Issue: Leaking front axle seal
Mileage: 60k
Signs: Gear oil leak from side of axle
Fix: Pull CV and replace seal
Difficulty: 3/5 (covered under powertrain warranty)
Issue: 1-2 shift delay/slip when cold (<30F)
Mileage: 65k
Signs: First shift of the day the RPMs will surge followed by a delayed engagment/hard shift
Fix: Check trans fluid level; drop pan, change filter if level good, refill with new fluid
Difficulty: 3/5 (use lubelocker gasket, do not overtorque bolts, they will strip) (might be covered under powertrain warranty)
Issue: Leaking rear pinion seal
Mileage: 70k
Signs: Gear oil leak/seepage at front of rear diff
Fix: Drop driveshaft, undo pinion nut, replace seal, retorque to spec
Difficulty: 3/5 (covered under powertrain warranty)
Issue: Bad compressor
Mileage: 80k
Signs: possible growling when AC clutch engaged, running a bit hotter than normal when AC on, usually catastrophic failure
Fix: Replace compressor, possibly condenser, drier and expansion valve, evac and fill system
Difficulty: 5/5
