2012 Jeep Liberty Sport

Going to be changing the gear oil soon in the front and the rear. Are either of these differentials limited-slip or non-limited-slip?

If they are non-limited-slip, can limited-slip oil be used?

Both front and rear are open diffs. As for gear oil, not sure. But I think I've seen Troy or Tom mention using conventional Dino oil over synthetic.

Thanks. Can limited-slip oil be used with open differentials?

LSD requires and additive on top of the normal oil. Open diffs don't need it and don't really see a benefit to it.

The front differential requires a hex socket to remove the drain plug and a square socket to remove the fill plug. Does anyonne know what size hex & square sockets are needed?

Square is a 1/2"...just use a ratchet with a 1/2" drive and exextension and you'll be fine. Can't recall specific size for allen key though.
