My 2012 Liberty with 8500 miles through an Electronic Throttle light over the weekend. The dealer said there was a page and half of codes, that when narrowed down lead to the throttle body -- and they are all back ordered or not available. The parts guys said there are over 500 back ordered across the country, and none are being shipped.

Does anyone know anything about this issue?

The dealer characters also tore the drivers door weather stripping while working. -- Are these guys on the right track? Its winter. I live in Vermont and actually need the jeep.

well, if the codes are actually verified its the throttle body, check if the "door" (forgot the actual name of it) is sticking. and might as well throw a 4.7l tb if its unfixable. there's a few topics on here about the 4.7l tb and its glory in our hungry 3.7s.

and 8500 mikes on your 2012... does it even get driven?

I wouldn't be suprised if there were that many backorders especially if the part is made overseas in the Asia/Pacific Region. There is a huge labor dispute at the U.S. West Coast port which has caused massive congestion, and a reduced flow of almost everything from that region.

I'm in the Automotive Industry, and I work for an electrical component supplier to many car companies. I work with the people at these companies every day, and while the west coast port dispute is not affecting our supply of materials, I've been told by my OEM Customers that it is affecting other Tier 1 Suppliers.

You could always try to find a 4.7 throttle body. As long as it's the electronic like ours, you'll be fine. Consider it an upgrade....and a guinea pig for 11+. I think there's only been 1 or 2 other guys with 11+ doing it.

Did you get the ETC light at start up and were not able to start the vehicle, or did the light come on while driving?

I was driving when it came on. There was a pop noise and the engine sounded like it stumbled.

It only has 8500 miles on it because I mostly use it for pulling logs out the woods, and a trailer loaded with wood for my winter heat. 4500 of the miles were two trips to Georgia where I got 18.5 to 19.5 mpg while traveling about 80MPH all the way.

In the summer I drive a diesel Jetta. So the jeep doesn't get a lot of use.

im in the market for doing the swap. as stated in the "Increase in mpg w/ 4.7L TB" thread. its a great option since he needs one anyways. buy the tb and an adapter or do it the right way and go with the 3" tubing tb to air filter.
