haven't done anything at all to the KK for the past 2 weeks. I think im coming down with a jeep "bug" or something? though I did detail my mothers Expedition and engine bay. I may detail my jeep Monday, but it all depends on a job opening in Virginia. if that job goes through, there will be some major upgrades sooner then anticipated.

Starting to get prepared for next years jeep upgrade. I'm currently looking at a 4 inch lift, possible larger tires and rims, to get my speed back to factory id need 3.88 gears but no one makes 3.88, so I'm thinking about 4.10s along with OX locker front and rear!!! Electronic for the front and air for the rear. The air and or electronic may change though. I can buy a viair compressor and 2 solenoids for the front and rear, but want to justify the benefits of that particular set up. I'm on edge installing the tow package. I do want a hitch though because I do see myself towing a trailer a few times for some trips every month. It is a definite that I will be buying a front bumper from ATH. I'm not sure if I want to get a rear bumper at the same time as I do when I order the front. Protection wise, I have been good so far with out skids. My transfer case has scratches on it probably from sticks I constantly run over off road. I've never done anything that would need them. I'm pretty good with judging if my jeep can make it or not. Also, having good spotters count!

Y'all stay tuned for next years mods! I'll be doing the lift right this time!

Any ideas from any member on anything else to install?

Get some skids...why it took me so long I'll never know. Even the MOPAR ones are good enough for most wheeling. May want to else consider extending breather tube lines.

I have both skids and breather lines in the planning. skids, ill either make, or rip them off another bronco again because I enjoyed being underneath one for 2 hours removing rust wielded bolts. the old old suburban's had long skids but I didn't have the correct allen wrench for the job.

the bronco skid plate for my transfer case was painted black and so far has clear coat scratches on it. no dings or deep gauges on it.

ill extend the breather lines to the engine bay with a k&n pod filter once I get situated with the new lift.

So long as you get them before the rocks do...

No sense in getting one of those. ARB has one too. for $15 you can go to Lowe's and get everything you need to extend the lines to the roof (don't really go that high...).

When I was stock, I scraped everything up. Since I lifted, going on the same trails as I was stock, no scraping. I can't really think of the last time if there was that I hit anything underneath. Ogh thats right, Rausch I put my front diff on a nice sized stump. The trail where (i forget his name) the guy in the jku got his door dinged up on a boulder; last side trail we took. Other then that I haven't hit anything. And I know the diffs have water in them. A little bit of rust on the ring and pinion that are being thrown out can't hurt. Unless some one wants 3.73s, then I'll change the oil.

thanks Lauren. I love to keep her clean, but also have no issue with getting her filthy. went through a dirt parking lot the other day after it rained and went through every puddle imaginable. didn't really get it that dirty though...

well anyways, Im a little bit late on this post, but I installed the transmission fan a few weeks ago. the fan draws a minimum of 2 amps! avg I saw was 2.34 amps. not sure of the cfm rating but it puts out a lot of air. it is waterproof. was rated at ip55, but I since then sealed the unit to be somewhat better then the ip 55 rating. who knows, the fan may just be making noise, but ill know if its really working when I go on the trail.

I measured out the area for a square 2x4. worked out to be 29" length by 36" wide. the frame can not be an exact square due to the spare tire winch and the rear seat brackets, so leave about an inch and a half overhang on the wood frame.

I used zip ties, but have plans when I complete the mod to use u bolts. the big ones.

here's how it looks currently.

with the 2x4s, height gained is 4".

added tool trays to the cargo area and spray painted the bare metal black today. not going to get to into it just yet because I have bigger plans then it currently stands. there will be a built in tool box along with another goodie. no hints just yet about it though.

looking for tires already. want thick sidewalls. the sidewalls on my firestones are shot already. first lining on 2 tires are already compromised, so I want to get a good next set, not saying my current tires are crap though.

If you want thicker sidewalls, look at any bias-ply tire. Those are nearly impenetrable and just look monstrous hahaha. I agree with your search for a thick sidewall though. That's why I went with my Pro Comps over Duratracs. Duratracs are known for a 2-ply weaker sidewall and when aired down and flexing on some of the sharper rocks they would puncture easier.

Look into Goodyear MTR with Kevlar. I know they have some of the strongest sidewalks out there.

Bmx and Nick, I'll have to look into them. I'm still on the idea of having 4 full-size "spares". My current tires are still useable on road, but not really comfortable with them off road. I bought load range E luckily. Not sure how long the load C would last.

Kevlar sounds good. Expensive, but good.

I want nobbier tires. My firestones are too quiet...

Last I knew, they're kinda pricey. But they're a mud tire with Kevlar built into the side walls. I'd honestly avoid bias ply for a daily driver. After sitting over night they get flat spots and need to be driven on to make round again. Also I think most bias tires these days are up in the 40+ range. I could be wrong and there could be a few bias ply 31-32s.

Here they are:

I bought the materials two times. Apparently it was windy out...

Originally bought quarter inch foil backed board ^^^. Went to another hardware store, they only had inch thick foil backed board.

I finished up then felt the urge to stain the VERY expensive plywood.

I still have 2" for my build I'm not ready to leak for.

This only happens on my way back from long trips. 9 times out of 10 the issue is loose clamps. Once I. Awhile it's a battery pull.
