Attempted to install the control arms today. Took 5 hours to get no where. :banghead: the stinking ball joint would not want to come out. Hammer, jack, nothing. I removed the sway bar end link that really didn't do much.

When removing the UCA when it was first lifted, it popped right out, no bottle jack. Even had no issue a few months ago when I had to remove the strut....

So I'm taking her into the shop hopefully tomorrow to borrow a lift.

You know where ill be in a few hours... haha :5SHOTS:

Are you replacing the stock UCA's? Why not just get a cheap pickle fork and pop it with that? Will likely damage the bj boot but hey they're stock arms.

I am.

I was going to pick one up. not sure why I didn't get one... well hopefully I can get a spot on a lift tomorrow. the shop usually uses 2 of the 4 bays. I picked up a ball joint press like the one marlin recommended but did no good. ill give the pickle fork a try.

the UCAs are of no use to me as a spare. those will be tossed.

now that I think about it the UCAs were removed with a pickle fork, that's why the boots are slightly punctured. they still hold what grease the mfg put in though which isn't much.

Working on the drivers side currently. Got the ball joint popped out. Having an issue removing the rear bolt... 1 click is too slow, I'm sorta stuck in the sand without borrowing or buying an impact. Issue being, I don't have a ride.... darn it. :-)r

Ogh, and I wasn't able to get a spot on the lift. Stupid insurance...

You got the drivers side done, right? That's the worst side. Passenger is super easy. I used a BFH to get the ball joint free from the knuckle. Make sure you get an alignment after.

Haha. Yea I did. Finished up 2 hours ago. Getting my jeep aligned as I type.

Drivers side was a pita. The rear bolts on both sides though we're bad. One click at a time.

I bought a pickle fork this morning so that made things to smoother. Like I said on facebook, I broke one of my hammers... Haha.

I'm trying out a new shop, so hopefully they are up to the task.

UPDATE EDIT:

Well. The shop I usually get my alignments done at lost a consistent customer. Tire plus got the alignment done in less then 45 minutes. The other shop last time took over 3 hours. My passenger side camber is 0.2 degrees positive. Not bad. These guys were great, and I now have a 1 year free alignment with them. I'm excited!

Few up dates.

Firstly, she drives like a queen on the highway. Under 45 you can tell she's a spacer lift.

Secondly, sitting at the stealership seeing if the pinion seal is covered under powertrain warranty. If not, not a biggie. I just hate the fact oil is spraying all underneath the jeep... :furious:

Thirdly, road princess got a bath yesterday. She'll be getting a well needed interior clean today into tomorrow.

Can you "feel" the factory spec alignment as you drive?

haha, well compared to what it used to be, it drives straight and has zero bump steer. bump steer is still present on speeds under 45 mph. all I know is everything was aligned perfectly except passenger side camber.

Got rid of 3 of my 6 batteries for the solar panel. Bought one new one and used one I previously bought. Total, the 5 batteries output almost 1k Amps at 32*f.

Also swapped solar panels feed with smaller gauge wire. Boosted 4 volts with the thinner gauge wire.

And lastly, since its getting colder, I lost 4 psi in all tires. Filled them back up to 36. I knew they were low when I herd rumbeling all around. nope not ball berrings.

Wow. 36 psi is low for you. :-)r
I'll check mine tomorrow since I haven't in about a month.

Haha I've had them that pressure this summer. I really do like 42-44 psi on those tires but since my last adventure at rausch creek, I feel like 44 is way to high and may split open the already visible gauges in the side walls. Not deep enough though to worry me for on road use. Worries me for off road. One of the reasons why I can't trail it currently.

And yours are probably going to be low if you last filled them up in summer. I think I may have had mine at 38. They sunk to 32 today. I may run 40 psi in winter reguardless of tire issues.

Surprisingly they haven't fluctuated much at all this year. They were all good 3,000 miles ago on my tire rotation, but it's time to check again. I've been running 36 as well.
