going south for 2 weeks next week. preparations as follows: diff fluids, trans, lower tire pressure to 36-38 psi, and summer detail the jeep.

still haven't bought anything to mod the kk yet. im barley motivated to wash and wax and such the kk... need too to look good going where im going. pictures will follow for sure of my adventures!

ogh, and the passenger side cv joint is shot. im going to put over 3k miles in less then 2 weeks, so please pray for that cv not "you know whating" guys!

is painting the rims back to black considered a mod? haha. wheels looked better and a lot bigger when they were black. easier to maintain too like Gage mentioned. :juggle:

You could still dip your rims over the paint.
If you do dip anything, it can be a bit annoying to do so when it's not so warm. Plastidip likes to be warm when you use it.

The no moding thing is going great...... (sarcasm) All ive done is electrical work on it. Plan on doing a relay for the roof lights to be swaped out with one of my solod state relays. Alot safer then it is now dangling inches from the drivers side fender flare. The ssr will be terminated with those fork looking connectors... Haha. And i think thats all ill have time for this year gladly! Going south and am detailing the kk sometime before monday. <<< media player is still working which is very nice!

Wash it today or tomorrow while it's still nice out!

wheeled for a bit today. jeep performed flawlessly!!! even with wet leaves and very deep ruts. rear suspension was butter smooth. front has a little to be desired. every bump or drop I had a smile ear to ear on how she performed today. spacers are night and day difference. and I knew that when I bought the kit... here's to 2016s mods guys :5SHOTS:

And also, driving 330 miles, i got an average of 19.5 mpg! Odd how thats exactly double city driving. Going further south next week potentially with the kk. I think i could push her to 21 mpg. That may be to slow as 19.5 mpg was me going 67 the whole way.

Update time I guess,

With another person and gear, mpg has been a very steady 18.5 mpg. Sorta odd for such flat land...

Check gas cap light keeps comming on. O ring on the gas cap is fine, though I did replace it with a direct replacement and did not help. Once I get back in PA I'll pull the battery and inspect the canister hoping I didn't pop it open. Mileage seems to have seen no decrease since the issue.

Oil change as soon as I get home. Ill be almost 1k over. Im close to 3k now and still have over 900 miles left to home.

Tires are doing good. Oddly enough, tread is literally wearing unevenly all the same. Inside tread is wearing slower then the outside on all 4. Guess im doing a good job?

Ogh, and trans and rear diff seem to enjoy marking their territory... Trans is probably a bit low acording to my hot line, and rear diff took alot the last time. Luckilly i have another 70k miles to get that figured out.

I'm always killing the outside of my tires. No idea why. I just keep rotating them to mitigate it.

Outside is generally what one gets from lots of turns in town

My gascap light is also going off I've done everything you have. Hopefully you find out what's causing the problem

So, I got back from vacation Sunday. Put over 5k miles on her. Glad I changed oil right before I left.

So here are the pics from Virginia. Didn't get much from Florida since I was driving. A few other people have more pics then I do...

The day of our trip to Florida. She was very heavy this trip.
Image

Furthest south you can legally reach.
Image

I just had to park there. Rest stop in Florida.
Image

Traveling to the everglades. 70 miles of no cars!
Image

Coldest temp I saw in Florida. Key West was about 78 at the hottest.
Image

I posted pictures backwards, I was in Virginia for a week and Florida for a week. Heres the road 2 minutes from my buddy place. Love every time I visit because its so isolated.
Image

Some off road videos. Almost below freezing point up in the mountains every night. No snow when I was there though...

Got some BIG plans for 2018. I need a 100% reliable vehicle for 2017 and i need to get on building a trailer! Trailer needs to be done this year for testing. Planing has begun. Anyone in for weeks without work?

EDIT: In 2018. Not 2017.

Nice pics from Florida and Virginia! Looks like you had it loaded up pretty tight for the trip. Welcome home to PA just in time for 18 inches of snow.

Glad you are planning for a trailer project... Very cool. I don't have 4 weeks off exactly, but do have some first hand experience building a camping trailer on a military frame. Maybe we can share the labor this spring or summer to help build/finish each other's off road trailers? Mine is ready to be skinned with aluminum and needs an interior. It will also ready for solar panel installation once the skin is on.

Thanks! I have no problem helping you out! 4 weeks is a bit short for the trip btw! I'd like to go as far south again and to Alaska! Being young and all I have all the time in the world, so why not a trip like this right.

I'm already so far behind as far as trip budget goes and trailer process. I'm more worried about the trailer. The trailer will take up 90% of my time and the other 10% will be on the jeep. I only need tires, brake lines, track bar, front lift, and regear. Though regear is the lowest on the list. <- yeah, yeah, I know.

I have found 2004 - 2009 trailers in what seem to be near perfect condition for $300. I know almost exactly what I want to do with the trailer and I know for a fact no one has done it before. It will look like most but the way it functions will be a god send to use.

I need to start testing the trailer ASAP on and off road. I'm just waiting on buying a Pintle hitch and the right trailer.

worked on the jeep today. cleared codes and fixed the egr no pressure issue. the harness was a bit loose. knowing the evap system, if the issue is still present ill know by a 1/2 tank. cleaned out the jeep from my trip south too.

EDIT::: 1/30/16: removed rear sway bar. mall crawling is more comfortable now.

found a few videos of me in Virginia. thanks to Nick, my booty articulation vastly improved over spacers. in the past i had issues with traction, but i just crawled up this with zero issues! cant wait to full spring the front and have a trailer behind me!!!

went to the junk yard today for parts. picked up horns from a KJ since mine are literally done. as well as a fuse box from an XJ. I was specifically there to find a box with maxi fuses, but came home with the box and horns. almost came home with a front end (diff, r&p, springs, cradle)from a KJ; the whole shebang.

Why would you want a front axle from a KJ?
