What is the best gear to apply the e-brake in when parking?
I back in to spots the majority of times and usually apply it in reverse.
Is there a "right" way to use it while parking?

No there is no right or wrong way I personally would say pop it in neutral with foot on brake apply e brake put into park and remove foot from brake and you should be fine lol

I normally do a similar way. The only time I use the e-brake is when I'm parked on a hill and that's just because I want to take stress off the pin for park. Normally I pull the brake in gear(be in drive or reverse, just depends on what I was last in), then put it in park. That way there shouldn't me much, if any of a roll to cause any stress.

Slick road, ESP "off", reverse 10mph, E-brake on hard, hard right or left turn, when rig has turned 180°, pop it into drive, E-brake off, and gun it going in the other direction.
Bald fat tires, smooth road, and no lift would be best so you don't roll the rig on to its top.

EDIT: Oops, I thought this was the race car forum. Never mind...

This guy! We can't all have a stick. I'd be more inclined to beat on a stick than an auto lol.

With the rear brakes locked up you can pop it into drive pretty easy with an auto trany... LOL

Now back to the question at hand. If you are facing up hill then apply E-brake when in drive. If facing down hill apply E-brake in reverse.

That's if you can lock up the rears with the handbrake lol. It was pretty hard for me to do it this winter. I had to really rip it to get them to lock. I found that it was just easier to overpower the tires to break traction.

I hear ya. The E-brake does leave something to be desired. Have you tried bending the spring rest tag a little to improve the performance of it? I had the hand brake recall done and the new hand brake worked great for about 1-1/2 years. Then it was not holding again. So I did the rest tag Mod. Been great ever since. One thing to note is the brake surface does accumulate a thin coat of rust over time. So every once in a while I will apply the brake while driving to keep the rust dust cleared.

Nope, never heard of it either. Is there a write up for it?

I think Digger did one a long while back, but he went to the extreme and moved the spring behind the rest tag.
I will post in that thread on how I did mine.
Sorry for the hijack of the thread Gageraid.

The hijack is okay lol.
I'll have to try using the handbrake while driving to get rid of that rust you talked about since I've never done that before.
I do use the handbrake every single time I park...

Cool deal...
With my manual trany, I also use my E-brake every time I park.
