Post subject:  NEW MEMBER HERE - 2012 KK Sport
Howdy all, names Tyler. Im from the 518, Capital Region of New York. This is my first time joining a Jeep forum, so bare with me. The positive side is I am not new to online forums hahaha. Anyway I look forward to meeting some of yall and discussing the RIGS we all build and love. Hope to see some of you out there!

2012 KK Sport

Steelcraft front brush guard.
Mopar universal molded flaps.
Roof rack, crossbars, and basket.
AVS deflectors all around.

Within the next few weeks adding a 3 inch lift, 225/75/R16 General Grabbers, Possibly suspension if I dont get it as a package with the lift. And a little later down the road, new control arms and some armor for underneath.

What lift are you going with ?
Lose the brush guard so you can install some tow hooks makes getting out easier next time you get stuck in someones field :wink:
Man that rack sits high doesn't it!

Looks good! Nice to see new members and KKs!

What lift kit are you going with? I'd highly recommend the JBA UCAs during your lift kit install and even add the extra 1/2" to get to 3.5"!

Actually man that brush guard can get tugged on pretty hard. I actually prefer it over hooks, as long as your hooked up to one of the two vertical teeth... made a rooky mistake of putting a hook on the bottom crossbar of it before. ended up pinching, but the verticals are real strong. And I would really like to hear from some of you guys about lifts, Ive been fighting a non stop battle with myself trying to decide which one.

I am in the process of organizing a small 4x4 club so I will definitely be looking to throw some money into the ol girl. I would really like a 3 inch lift, open to going bigger, refuse to go smaller. But uhh, Im not looking to get into any serious crawling with my KK, But I do enjoy your average trail with humps bumps rocks swamps dirt mud yadda yadda. I guess what I am trying to say is im looking for an entry level-intermediate lift and suspension set up. I realize with most 3 inch kits on kks I will probably have to replace my stock control arms..

My highest recommendation is the 4" kit from JBA with his coilovers, but any lift you see on the jeepinbyal.com is 100% worth it. If you search around the forums you'll be able to gather a lot of information about lifts from questions asked in just the past few months!

I used to have that same style guard too. I hit a couple deer and got pulled out once. She wasn't as strong as I originally thought haha. Hence why I made my own bumper...

With a four inch kit dont you have to change your gearing around and do a lot of extra work/new parts?

How much did the 4 inch kit run you? with suspension?

Tire size not lift size dictates the need to regear
if going anything over 245-75-16s ( 30 inch then yes regearing is needed)
even with that size many have regeared for the extra power etc

but as suggested look over www.jeepinbyal.com for lifts
and remember OME gives you 2.5 inches of lift by themselves not 1.5 as advertised, plus easy to add to it to get 3-3.5 inches of lift
anything over 3 inches highly suggest the JBA upper control arms

They basically said it all. Regearing comes with increased tire size.

OME gets 2.5"(use 927 front springs and 731 rear springs). You can add to get 3"(that's the threshold), after 3" you'll need new upper control arms(I recommend JBA). You can easily get to 3.5". 3" might seem mild, but on a Liberty where 4" is the highest you can go, it's pretty big. Just stay away from spacer lifts. They only lift off the stock suspension, so if you aren't new-stock height you don't get the true advertised lift. They also seem to be harder on our suspension.

After you lift you can throw on 31s, or 245/75-16(if you want wider go 265/70-16).

$1600JBA coilovers. $400 JBA UCAs. $200 rear springs. $130-40 Bilstein rear shocks. Just under $3000 total. But for max travel you'll need a new track bar and other goodies. Plus hockey puck bump stops.

Well I'm working with a tight budget.. With that said I'm kinda looking to only spend about a grand right now. Assuming I'll get my tires from my guy for major discount prices (only will have to spend about 300-400) so for around 700 dollars what would you guys suggest to get me through this season. I've been thinking of lifting but keeping stock tire size.. 225 75 r16... Is that a bad idea? Again I'm definitely going to be off reading a lot but nothing too too crazy... Yet

Gage runs stock sized tires with the OME lift. It only gives 2.5" so it doesn't get too pizza cutter looking. OME 927/731 springs, choice of shocks(Bilstein is good quality and affordable), 1/4" top plate and 1 extra upper rear spring isolator per side will sit you right at 3". Then all you need is front and rear bumpstops. Front you can get Teraflex, rear you can use hockey pucks.

The 225/75/16 in a AT tire and if you remove the mudflaps, it make it look better in my opinion.
