LOST JEEPS :: View topic - Emergancy Essential Items Needed In An Off Road Vehicle

Why would you need just those emergency items? I would rather fix my stuff myself and then move on and go home, rather than sit there eating trail mix...how will I eat my Sunday morning pancakes! My emergency list is similar to Tom's except I don't have extra parts...I carry too many tools to actually fit my fluids too. I've been meaning to re-organize so I can actually put things in my trunk again. My trunk consists of my Kobalt hammer box (full of tools), my Craftsman tool chest (overflowing with tools), my Kobalt socket set, my Torx driver set, my massive Kobalt bag of my power tools (sawzall, drill, angle grinder, circular saw, impact gun, and ALL bits and tools and safety gear needed for tools), and my tire lug breaker bar with pipe extension. I also have my rear recovery, I think I'm up to 5 shackles, (not including my front bumper), hitch pin, gauze and wrap, my steel cable for recoveries, and an assortment of carabiners (makes connecting my steel line up easier haha), a change of clothes, and a 4" drop hitch.

Like I said...I want to lower how much I have haha

20 foot of wire, tape, jumper cables, soldering iron, axe,
NATO can of gas, small air compressor, of course all tools to rebuild a Liberty :wink:

Move to WA and I'll got you covered. Soon, I'll have my on-board-air and even reseat tire beads! And when we break steering racks we could replace them ON the trails!

Which part of WA? that's where my wife and I are thinking of moving to sometime next year :mrgreen:

And that would be sweet to change out steering racks on the trails if they go, so we definitely need to wheel together :CAMPING:

im going to list the items I have had in my Jeep since day one of ownership of it... 1. a jacket. even if its summer, you may be in an area where its ice cold and you need some extra warmth. 2. sleeping bag. ok so im lazy, so I haven't taken it out since I last camped. 3. lighter. you may need to seal up a rubber hose or use it for a fire or for a deep wound. 4. should have a first aid kit, but I do not yet. 5. air compressor. you may need your spare tire one day on the trail, and forgot its pressure is too low to remain on the bead. 6. fire extinguisher, again I do not have one yet, but its self explanatory. 7. water. I almost always have atleast 3 water bottles in the jeep incase I get thirsty or worse, dehydrated. 8. a blanket. the girls always are cold. 9. a tire jack. cause who needs one........ 10. a gps is a nice item to have. if yours is advanced enough it could track your trail mileage and altitude and you could see your trail on your computer. 11. windshield washer fluid. there has been multiple times that I would have been screwed with out. and its use is not just for your windshield. 12. snacks. going 2 miles an hour on a trail is hard work, you burn more calories then you think you would! 13. a weapon of some sort. a pocket knife is sufficient. 14. flashlight. trust me, it will be handy one day when you need one. ok, now a few of those items I do not have, but all 13 of these items are mainly essential for any off road adventure and a lot more items are missing but are not necessary for survival if need to be. you never know when you will need any of these. especially the knife. if I may have left out any important ones, please pm me.

In mine at all times I have: - tow strap(regular tow strap with hooks) - snatch strap(looped ends and stretches, made to yank) - blanket - tools - air compressor - tire deflators - 3' long 2x4 - tire pressure gauge - d-rings ( I think I have 2 or 3 of them) - hoody - razor blade - pocket knife - 2 flashlights (1 regular led, the other is a plug in) That's all off the top of my head. Definitely missing a lot. A lot also gets used, added or taken out. I could use a fire extinguisher, matches and lighter, and probably some other things. Water just gets consumed, as does food. I also have my fishing stuff from April 1st to December 31st (that includes a 5 gallon bucket, garbage bags, 5 fishing poles and tackle for them). I also try to keep a change of clothes in the Jeep at all times, and probably have a bar or 2 of soap, and the small hotel bottles of shampoo and conditioner. Then the rest is just toys. I think I still have a vuvuzela (soccer horn) and a frisbee in back.

this was just a topic on emergency items. items that are essential for an overnight or emergency situation. though bmxers and yours have the potential of getting the person out of that emergency situation.

Tom just reminded me, I have jumper cables too. When it's loaded right it really doesn't take up much room. Right now I've had 3 jackets in it and an additional blanket and pillow. I have a break from 9:50 til 5:30 on Mondays and Wednesdays, so I go back to the truck, fold the seats down and go to bed. It was really cold in the winter lol

I figure when I'm at home I can always head to the shed for tools.

Uy u joints for our kk's? And also to add to the list I am adding to my offroad kit is possibly a new rack and pinion just incase

I have a good selection of items, but I think I could do better: 1. Small tool kit - good for minor trail repairs and fixes, not for rebuilding an engine on the trail. 2. Jumper cables - For yourself or helping someone else 3. Work gloves - Busted knuckles are no fun, and blood is a PITA to clean out of cloth seats. Protect your hands. 4. Old but reliable AA battery powered Garmin GPS. 5. Extra AA batteries - rotated every 6 months. 6. Entrenching tool - Short, military style shovel. Mine dates back to the Korean war, has U.S. stamped into it. 7. Small roll of Gorilla tape. Many uses. 8. Synthetic braided tow rope with hooks - good for vehicles with closed loop tow points 9. Synthetic tow strap. 10. Emergency reflective triangles 11. Assortment of Bungee cords in a plastic container 12. Two quarts of synthetic motor oil 13. Fuzzy blanket One thing I don't have and REALLY wish I did was proper a NATO style fuel can (Not one with the stupid CARB spouts) The only fuel can I have has a good spout, but it's a squat fat can and doesn't seal well enough to be jostled about on an offroad trip.

Yep forgot my military shovel. Not the best digging tool but it'll do in an emergency situation and anything is better than your hands at that point.

It's 1.5 hours NW of Seattle.
