So last night I took my bumper off to get to my ATH recovery system. The paint job I did last summer did not hold up very well to the winter road salts... I have paint chips and rust spots are poking through. I took it off to sand it down, and do something more durable than rattle can black.

In the process, the bolt tab for one of the crash caps broke off (more rust). Would it hurt anything if I left them off? I'm thinking no, but just want to verify.

Leave them off , haven't had them on mine since 2005 and have hit deer/ Toyotas etc will no ill effects
