Post subject:  Recommended aftermarket CVA's?

So, as often happens when you lift a vehicle with a good amount of miles on it, my recent lift has exposed some issues with my KK. Namely, the right side half shaft is leaking grease like crazy right up near the upper boot.

Now, I don't blame the lift itself, I've noticed the front end has been louder when driving for about 3 months now. I had chalked it up to my newer tires, but honestly, they weren't that loud initially. Now I know where the noise was coming from, and I need to have the CVA replaced. I don't want to spend $200+ on a MOPAR one if I can get a quality aftermarket one for less. That said, I'd like to avoid reman units unless they come highly recommended.

So, any suggestions? I'm seeing a few prominent ones out there, including Cardone, Drive Tech America, USA Industries and GSP, but I don't know anything about parts makers and have no clue what is good and what is not, and I could use some guidance.

Till you find a replacement, clean the boot and seal up the boot. I'm facing somewhat of a similar issue, though I'm not paying 250 bucks for a boot and a part I won't even need.

Not sure though what sealant would be good for this issue though.

Best you're gonna find are RCV, but that's also $2k(get a lifetime warranty, unless you run over 40" tires). Realistically speaking as just a replacement, I'm not sure for our KKs...

KJ owners have been swearing by NAPA remanned units...not sure how well that correlates to the KKs though haha.

I had a pinhole in my driver side and actually used heavy duty RTV to seal it up. I let it set for 24hrs, and no issues afterwards. I even went on a weekend long wheeling adventure with no problems.

I would just bite the bullet and go with the Jeep remanned ones. Last I checked the NAPA ones are still on nat'l backorder and the ones off Rock Auto are garbage.

I did some closer inspection and found that the upper passenger side cv boot was the culprit. It had a puncture in it a bit smaller than my pinky finger. I ended up getting a squeeze tube of moly axle grease, jamming the end in and squeezing in as much grease as I could. I then wrapped the whole boot in a sliced flat section of bicycle inner tube, and secured it down with several heavy duty zip ties. No more grease leaks!

I'm also pretty sure that the noise I was hearing was the tires, and not my front end.

So for now its patched and safe, I just need to order a new axle.
