I lost my only key to my jeep... Somewhere on the road. Don't ask how :banghead:

Thinking on buying a cheap replacement then a program module. I'm still looking into this.

I'm not paying more than 250 bucks for a key. :furious:

You'll spend 10 times that much for a scan tool that can program a key.

You may not like it but that pricey key is a major theft deterrent.

I found a module that states it can do a jeep immobilizer. knowing the 2012 ecu firmware... I figure id cut my loss after the research and buy a cheep 20 buck key and have the jeep towed and programed...

key is scheduled to be here tomorrow afternoon.

Find a good locksmith, they can cut and program.

I bought one on amazon and had a local locksmith program it, it was either $50 or $75.

Bought 2 keys on Amazon. Should be here Monday... Chrysler cuts for 5 bucks. Can't beat that. I'll have the jeep flat bed towed to Chrysler then.

The people there are so miserable.

I was actually surprised how cheap it was to buy two keys when I needed them not long ago.
The first key I had cut for free at Ace cuz he was unsure if it would work.
After I verified the cut key worked and was programmed without issue, I brought Ace the second blank key, had it cut for a small fee, and programmed it myself.

Chrysler said it was 170 for the key and to cut it plus the 50 dollar program fee.

what I did was buy the 20 dollar key, have Chrysler cut it for 5 dollars and program it for 50 bucks. ill eventually buy 3 more keys. I've done fine with 1 key since I had my jeep, I don't want to have my jeep towed again. so as long as I have a minimum of 3 keys on hand, I think I should be good.

You ain't kidding. Still haven't found time to motivate myself to tear apart the doors.
Driver side you can't open it with the key chamber and the passenger side doesn't unlock without physically pulling the lock up.
