Hopefully somebody's experienced this before... My 2009 CRD Cherokee (KK) has a serious coolant leak problem. The problem is that it only leaks when the engine its cooled. I first noticed the issue 1 morning getting ready for work, huge puddle underneath constant drip every second coming from the *RHS as it pooled out of the skid plate. I topped the coolant up (approx 1ltr) & drove it to work (45min drive at 50mph+) *Right hand side if you're looking into the engine bay When I got to work, checked the expansion tank & it was still at the correct level. Came out at the end of work, big puddle this time with a steady constant flow of coolant dripping out from underneath. Topped it up again, drove it to my local shop & they diagnosed water pump so that was changed as well as the timing belt, interestingly though, the pressure test they did showed no pressure loss for the duration of the test. Drove it around for a few hours, no leak & all seemed well. Same problem this morning so I looked a little deeper myself & it appears as though the leak is becoming visible from the right bottom part of the radiator. I need help understanding if there's a hole in the radiator why coolant is only coming out when the engine cools, I'd have thought if its a steady stream at cold it would be a high pressure jet when the engine is warm? Has anybody else come across this? Dont want to spend more of my hard earned money that the radiator needs replacing if its something else less obvious. To me it almost seems as though theres a valve that opens when cold which is passing fluid????? Any advice is appreciated. |

There is a drain plug on one of the sides on the bottom of the radiator that has a tendency to never properly seal back up after opened. Worst case scenario is a new radiator and a flush. |

Common on plastic/aluminum raditors. The plastic side tank gaskets will leak as the engine cools but seal up when it's at operating temps. |

Thanks for the replies guys, I dropped it off at a Jeep specialist centre & they've confirmed new rad & top hose required. |
