So I searched a bit but couldn't seem to find what I was looking for. Background, when using my heat I usually keep it on half floorboard half defrost. Nice because as we have so little dash area I can have heat up top ye not blowing right on me. Anyway, noticed this morning the my leg area seemed a little chilly. A hand placed below told me I had no air flow. (yes, controls were in desired position Now, when I switched to full defrost position the air flow from the defrost vents DID increase. Switching to normal dash vents the air switched and you could hear the doors moving. Switching to half dash half floor sent the air to the center dash and oddly back up to the defrost vents. And again you could hear the actuator reposition. So basically I know the actuator moves but no matter what position the knob is in, if it's split between floor and any other setting what should be coming from the floor is coming out the top (defrost) vents. Again if its in the full defrost setting I get all the air from top vents and when I select floor/defrost, I lose half the air. Like you normally would except it's not actually coming out anywhere and floor/center also gets split between center and defrost Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. |

Pull the Mode door actuator off and have a look at the parts behind it. It sounds like one of the connecting rods came off. |

I'll be damned if it didn't somehow fix itself while sitting in the parking lot during work. Was messed up this morning but it worked fine this evening on the way home. Dunno what's up with that but at least it was an easy fix. Heh |

I remember a situation similar to this. The cause was something sticky had gotten into the doors and caused the floor door to get stuck. In their case they removed the center bezel and the center vent tubes. Then they were able to reach down inside and clean the gunk out. |

I can see that happening. Girl had a monster explode in her Saturn. Got EVERYWHERE wasn't possibly to throughly clean by time I found out about it. Had already done it's damage. Got the fresh recirc air door stock half way. That combined with low pressure in her ac compressor pretty much destroyed the whole system. Assuming from compressor running overboard I guess. |
