Hi,

I need some advice on swapping a set of leather seats from a 2011 KK Liberty (Cherokee in Australia) 70th Anniversary model for the cloth covered seats in my 2011 Sport model.

I understand the differences with the manual and electric seats plus sensors etc.

All I am aiming for is to have leather seats with the same functionality as the cloth ones, happy not to have all the electric adjustment, memory functions, heating etc. Simple forward back and recline (and the fold flat passenger front seat) as well as the same sensors as the Sport.

I did the same thing in my old XJ and it was a very simple task to just bolt the rear seats in and swap the cushion and backs from the leather front seats onto the old rails and base frame. I suspect it will not be as straight forward for the KK.

Is it possible to just swap the covers?

Cheers,

Guzzi

It should be. I took the cloth off my front seats to install heated seat modules before, and then reassembled. I am sure swapping leather for cloth would be the same process. There is nothing special about the foam seat cushions either. If the leather seats have different shaped foam (or lumbur supports!) you could swap those over too. You will just need a lot of hand strength and some hog ring pliers. It isn't a fun job but the payoff is high.

Yes, you sure can have some fun with hog ring pliers ;)

Might have to visit the wreckers who have the seats and have a closer look

Thanks,

Steve
