Post subject:  Headlights are dim

Just purchased a 2008 Liberty 80k miles and when I first drove it at night the headlights are horrible. I put Silverstar Ultras in last night with the same results. Dims w/ fogs on seem better than brights. Also when I go from dim to bright (with fogs off) there's a brief time when they're bright. Then it's looks like the dims go off and the brights are dim. And occasionally it seems the brights are bright then I have to dim them for an oncoming vehicle and when I go back to brights they're dim again. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Check your grounds.

X2. Check that they're not aimed too high also.

Well I checked the grounds, there's one directly below the battery on the inner fender that has a bunch of wires going into one terminal. That one didn't look so good so I cleaned it up, battery was fine. Any other ground locations I should check? Low beams (w/o fogs on) appear to be brighter although they might be pointed too low, didn't have a chance to use brights since there was too much traffic. Is there a spec to adjust the headlights? There used to be a: park XX feet from a wall with lights on low beam and high beam and they should be XX high.
