Post subject:  Leak on brand new rear ARB

So I just got the ARB installed in the rear and the shop informed me that there was a leak from the 2 o rings located in the collar of the carrier assembly. I've only had it for a few days now but the compressor basically was constantly cycling on and off due to the "leak". However today when I went to use the locker the compressor is no longer cycling like it was. It just turns on initially when I engage and that's it. Also since it's not cycling like it was there seems to be nearly no smell of gear oil in the cab anymore, whereas before when it was cycling there was a very strong smell of gear oil. (compressor is mounted in the rear cargo area.) So I s it possible that whatever was leaking just kind of worked itself out? Such as maybe the o rings just weren't seating properly and now they are? Or am I looking at even more problems now?

Just turn the compressor off...

But ARBs are prone to having o rings issues after a few years of use. I'd take it back to the shop who did it and tell them to fix it because they handed you a shoddy locker install. It normally takes a 2 to 3 years for o rings to start failing...not 2 days.

What do you mean turn the compressor off? Then the locker wouldn't be engaged... And yea it started leaking again, now it's even worse than before and the compressor is basically running nonstop anytime I am moving with the locker engaged. Are you certain it's he shops fault? Hey tried telling me it's ARB's fault.

Why is your locker engaged so often? You don't daily driver with it on...

But yeah, if he knowingly installed a bad o ring he's a @$#% tards and deserves to reinstall it.

I've been up in the mountains the last few days and yea that's what I was thinking too. Like how one he didn't test the locker by running some shop air through it before installing? Hopefully I don't have to fight the shop on this one

Good luck dude. Just be careful because you'll burn out the compressor if it kept cycling like that. And you might screw up the locker if it disengages and re-engages while there's wheel slip.
