Try just grounding the wire. That's what I did with mine and it works anytime, driving or parked. Of course don't watch movies while driving though :grim:

Thank you. I was told that a new DVD unit will need to be on a switch instead of just being grounded. Can anyone help me in wiring a toggle switch for this? This is my first head unit that ive installed.

If I were to try just grounding the cable, where is the best/easiest way to ground it?

Take the wire from the stereo the the switch (simple on off toggle) then back to the parking break wire. Flick the switch on and off, and there you go.

Thanks! So I have the unit working for the most part but it only works when the Jeep is running, it won't work with the key on like the factory unit. Any idea what could cause this?

Not sure - I'm assuming something is not wired correctly. I have a Pioneer DVD head unit in my 2010, works just like the factory unit, either with the Jeep running or when the key is on. Most likely there is a disconnected wire somewhere.

Not much help I know, but it's most likely not the Pioneer unit that is the issue. Most likely a connectivity issue.

He is correct. Something is messed up in the wiring

Any luck? What adapters did you use for wiring? Or did you splice and hard wire?

Let me know if you're still struggling, I can pull the Pioneer head unit I have and get some pics of the wiring if needed.

Which power source did you tap into to power the head unit? When I wired mine, I used the cig lighter and it turns on with the key turned to acc.

Been awhile since i did this but i believe i had to add a seperate power converter to make my pioneer dvd unit work. Also, I added a 12V relay to trick the unit to think the P brake was engaged. youtube can show you how to wire, pretty easy.
