For now anyway, I think I'm not going to mess with the suspension. Tommudd mentioned that 245/70/16 would be the biggest I could go but I wanted to see if anyone else had any experience adding larger tires than that. My stock tires on my KK are 225/75/16 if I am not mistaken, so 245 will or will not make a "bigger" difference? I appreciate the advice guys and I know a lot of my questions are kind of redundant, I just want to make sure I'm doing things the right way. (also, does anyone have a good wheel/tire website?) |

I found this neat little tire size comparison page last week. https://tiresize.com/comparison/ 245/70/16 would only be a tad bigger than 225/75/16. Most notably they'd be a little wider... a little less than an inch wider than your 225/75/16's. Overall circumference of the tire would be a tad bigger than half an inch compared to your stock size. And it would only be a tiny bit taller as well (+0.2" on your sidewalls). That page I linked in the first line of my post is great though. It helps you visualize the difference and it gives you the measurements that would change. edit: There is a guy on here running 245/70/17's (about a 30.5" tire) on stock suspension but he does get some minor rubbing. How much rubbing are you ok with and have you had a look at your own wheel wells? I'm looking to get new tires soon too and if you aren't lifted there is not a lot of room to go up in size in the front wheel wells. Guys get lifted 3" and only run 245/75/16's on these forums alot. Just something to think about. 2nd edit: I see you already posted about this and Tommudd already gave you some good answers. Look at his KJ's specs too, man... he's at 4.25" of lift and is running 32's. If you want a dramatic tire size difference you have to push that Jeep up. |

KrazyKK caught on quick. Moving up into the typical 4x4 tire sizes (31s, 32s etc; which btw is considered small now a days when you can run 33s on a stock JK, or even 35s if you trim and run flat fenders and extended bumpstops) you're gonna need about 2.5" of lift. At that point you'll run 245/75-16 or 265/70-16 which is about a 31" tire. Wanna step up to 32s? You're looking at 3.5-4.25" of lift, then regearing to 4.10/4.56s to make up for the loss of power and gas mileage. |

I do not want "dramatic" size difference PER SAY, but I do want them to stick out slightly to give my kk a meaner look. 265/70/16 would be what I would want with a 2.5 inch lift... would that give me that look do you think? I mean that's a bigger step up from 225/75/16... and I realize that that's sort of a do or die question as I'll have to lift it to actually see the difference... I think I'll keep looking at the pics people posted here and on JeepForums to see what they've done... The only thing I'm a little shaky on is making sure that the wheels I get will match up with the tires, I heard that even though the sizes do match, some may not fit as they will stick out. Thanks for the website too! |

I am definitely not looking to sit flush at 0. I think that looks a little weird on the KK especially given how tall it is from the rear tailgate to the roof. I want to hangout, but not on an extreme level, just enough to get that mean look, lol. My best discription would be how a lot of people do it with a JKU, although some go wayyyy extreme with it. I wish there was a website that would show me how mine would look with the various offsets etc... |

I have 245 70 17 tires on my 09. No rubbing on the inner fender liners except under a few odd positions off roading but its only very minor. No damage from the tires. Any bigger and Id need a lift. |

I am hearing that I wouldn't be able to fit 16x8 on a 245 70 16..... also, I'm assuming ur KK came stock without 16 inch wheels? Is it difficult making the jump to 17? (Are you 17x7 or 17x6?) one last thing, where did u go to get the new tires and wheels put on? Did they say anything to you about the set up lol... I could care less what they say to me I'm just curious |

I don't want to fit 255's unless I lift which I'll do later. I want to keep my stock suspension. |

Sorry, havent been on here much. My rims are the stock aluminum rims. I took the rims loose to the tire place and had them installed. I would rather do all I can on my jeep but dont have a tire changing machine nor a balancer. It came out nice and the tires fill the wheel wells nicely. Still no damage from the tiny bit of rubbing either. Unfortunately my front bumper has not held up so well, lol. |
