Post subject:  TIPM or Master Switch

Hey guys, need some help.

So yesterday my wife pulled out of the driveway, got half a block down the street and the 2008 Jeep Liberty (KK) just shut down. At first I thought it might be the battery, so I had my housemate attempt to jump start the car. No luck. Then I took the battery in and replaced it (it was old anyway). No luck. Had a mechanic buddy of mine come over, he tested the power with a voltmeter. The battery was fine, power to the alternator and power to the fuse box. Here's the weird thing... The dome light, power mirrors, Cd player eject button and the console light behind the hazard lights (but not the actual hazard lights) work. THAT'S IT. Nothing else. The key in any position doesn't turn on anything. No dash lights, no head lights, no horn, no nothing. (Side note: the power locks had been working strangely the past couple weeks and right before the car died, the windshield wipers started to move)

My research online and here on this website leads me to believe it's the TIPM that needs to be replaced. I wanted to know if this is what you guys think too? I also read something about the 'master switch' that's in the driver's door (what's that placement about?).

I'm also having a hard time finding the part online? I see replacement TIPM's for other Dodge models, but not for my Jeep.

Check for blown fuses. If you find one try replacing it. If it pops again right away there is a short. Where the short is it is hard to say.
The TIPM 7 is known to have poor relays for the door locks. They are rated at the Amps it is required to lock/unlock the doors with no spare room. When the relay shorts out internally some strange things can happen, if the short jumps to another circuit on the computer board.
The door lock issues may to totally unrelated to the engine dying...

In early 08 TIPMs the typical signs of a problem would be the horn honking, wipers going, all dash lights on, washer fluid weeping on their own. More apt to happen in dry dusty areas. Initially a good smack on the top of the TIPM cover would stop the above for a bit.

Is your problem a TIPM? Hard to say for sure...
Could just be a user replaceable relay gone bad, fuel pump died, ignition problem, etc.
More Diag will be required to chase the problem down.
