The last few mornings it has been cold, like down in the 40°'s. I'll start the Jeep, back out of the driveway, put it in D, drive down the street to the first stop sign. When I go to start moving after that first stop, the Jeep will hesitate like it's in neutral. The engine will even rev if I let it, with no forward motion, for about 5-10 seconds. Then it will kick in, and drive normally for the rest of the day. What could be up?

I had a transmission service less than 1400 miles ago where they did fluid and filter. Is it possible the fluid level is not correct? No issues unless it's cold. 135,000 miles now, fluid and filter done at 90K and again at 134K. Don't think the PO did any trans maintenance.

Put about half a quart of ATF+4 in there. That should fix her right up.

I had this issue about a year ago after I did a drain/fill. She let out a bit more than 4 qts and I only put 4 qts back in.

You were right on the money, NAM. I brought the rig back to the dealer where they did the tranny flush, and they confirmed the issue today and made it right. 1/2 a quart low.

I'm glad too! Now that the weather is getting colder at night, it was becoming quite an issue in the morning not being able to drive until the tranny warmed up! Now everything seems to be back to normal and I can just put it in gear and go.
