The radio antenna base is broke. It looks like I may have not had the garage door up high enough when I backed out . What am I getting into replacing it. Does the wire unplug at the base? |

Before you do any work on the KK, disconnect the Neg(-) battery cable and wait 10 minutes. This will prevent the airbags from accidentally going off. You will have to drop the back of the headliner. Be careful not to crease it. Reach up in there and disconnect the 2 wire connectors to the antenna. Then remove the nut and pull the old unit out. You may have to loosen and possibly remove the 2 rear quarter panels to be able to drop the headliner far enough to reach the plugs/nut. See red above! There are 2 side curtain airbag charges located above the rear side windows! |

I was thinking I may have to pull the headliner completely out and replace the wire also. Now to find a new base. |

Your welcome. Oh, and there may be 3 wire connectors depending on what you have... If you have an OEM satellite Hu, make sure your new base is the same as what you have. The base is the Sat antenna and the whip is AM/FM. One of the plugs has a power booster wire in it, so I would recommend an OEM antenna base. That way it will be plug and play. You may be able to find one in a junk yard, to save a few bucks... You don't want to replace the wires... They are "not serviced" because they are embedded in the headliner. I see several different part #'s, so I'd call a dealer with your VIN to make sure you get the correct one. |
